**Chapter IX - The Mission**

As soon as Eduardo entered the center, he was astonished to see right in front of him the figures of the two men from his dream while coming to São Paulo. They were Alan and Luciano, the two companions, Alan the father of Amanda, the girl tragically hit in that car accident. Ah! The young man was experiencing a true terror of car accidents.

Marcelo, the mentor of the center, went to meet them, briefing them on everything. In reality, what the people from the Spiritist Center wanted was a way to enter the valley of suicides in the Umbral and rescue that poor soul who was there, young Amanda. Alan explained that after a terrible accident, the girl became quadriplegic and under the complete care of her father. She remained in that condition for a few months until one day she swallowed her own tongue and died. Faced with that sad situation, the mediums of the center couldn't refuse this help.

Obviously, some had already tried, but without success. The mediums who got closer to her reported that she refused to receive help. The last attempt was catastrophic because for some reason, the girl descended even deeper into the abyss. What religions always equate with hell.

That's when Eduardo had the audacity:

– I'll go!!!

– But you're not a spirit of light who can go wherever, nor a spirit dense enough to withstand the adversities of that region! – Marcelo replied.

– Ah! I just met this "crazy guy" here with a coat and a sword. He should be able to go down to this place. Besides... He told me that I have mediumistic powers. How about we train a bit of astral travel?

– What you need is a team! The warrior you already have, the demon killer spirit that Eduardo can't stop talking about. Now you need a healer, a guide, and tactical support. I think you should teach me so I can go with you. – Nakata chimed in, excited about the situation.

The words of the Japanese friend brought a slight smile to everyone's faces, to which Marcelo added:

– Your friend isn't entirely wrong. You can form a team for this mission. Obviously, Nakata, you won't be able to go this time, but I'll be happy to be with you on this side in "tactical support." Our prayers will be very helpful while they are in such dark regions. There's a chance you may confront some lord of the abyss to try to save the young girl. These beings are so powerful that even the Hunter may not be enough.

– Wow! So we have to find this guy too! Even knowing it won't be easy. Abyss, Hell... Regions below the umbral waves, here we come. This will indeed be a mission for our elite spiritual group. Well... First, we need to find one! – the Hunter concluded.

Now it was time to gather a rescue team. And it had to be the team!!! Mission: rescue a soul from the depths of the abyss. While most of those involved were concerned with choosing the right people for the team, Eduardo went through a second level of spiritual training with his newest friend from beyond.

During the new training, the Hunter, as he liked to be called, continued his story of how he became what he was today, whenever he could:

– When I was at the Portal of Consciousness, in the other plane, I was astonished, full of doubts. I don't know why, but I couldn't remember how I left the world of the incarnates. Maybe there I could get answers. Come to think of it... That's where I must go to get the answer to one of the things we need. Wait here! I'll be back in a day or two.

The great advantage of being a spirit is the teleportation thing. As if by magic, the Hunter disappeared from Eduardo's sight, leaving him waiting for something. At the spirit center, Eduardo continued his studies and training, and Marcelo informed that initially, it was difficult; even discarnate beings need to train and study well to do things like what the Hunter did. However, once you get the hang of it, you can go anywhere in the universe, depending on your capabilities and abilities... Of course, as long as God allows it.

Most earthly spirits only venture into Earth's orbit and at most up to a lunar station. Few have the courage to visit other worlds beyond Earth. Moreover, not every spirit has this advantage. There are dozens of spirits who, being so dense and attached to matter, need to walk as if they were still incarnate beings. However, over time, everyone feels the need to evolve to something better and more practical, even logistically speaking.
