Chapter V -Power

The next few days were busy. Marcelo always assigned a task beyond the usual reading. Usually related to the practice of martial arts and a proper diet with various restrictions, especially regarding meats. Eduardo had a special ability. He could remember his past incarnations. And when this is said, it means that even what he learned in the past, he can use now.

For example, he was an excellent archer in the Middle Ages. Carlos handed him a bow and arrow, and he acted like an Olympic archer. In another incarnation, he was a samurai in feudal Japan. And believe it or not, he sliced an apple in mid-air with the "katana," a Japanese sword that the old professor received from an ex-girlfriend. The only thing that intrigued everyone about this guy is the fact that he not only remembers the past but also knows what he will be in the future. It's like he's a time traveler between his incarnations. At first, he struggled a lot to control his "powers," but now, after many meditation sessions and training, he could go back and forth whenever he wanted. However, he doesn't choose a specific time; it seems like his subconscious takes him where he needs to go!

– I've come across people who could remember snippets of their past incarnations. But they were very specific flows, and it was a very rare thing to see. With Eduardo, this flows naturally, as if his mind were expanded. He really is special. – Marcelo replied, one of the instructors at the Chico Xavier Paths spiritist house.

– Could he be the Spirit of Truth mentioned in The Spirits' Book? – Carlos asked.

– Legends say that the Spirit of Truth is Master Jesus Christ. However, they are mistaken, but they are close. The Spirit of Truth is his messenger. His spiritual and personal postman, the ultimate and greatest Master of this galaxy. Known in ancient mythologies by many names such as Hermes, Mercury, among others. There is a possibility, but let's wait a bit and let time answer these questions. – Marcelo replied.

Carlos followed Eduardo's case since the incident with his hit-and-run a few months ago. He learned to use his abilities as well as lead a normal life without others noticing. Well, after his "blackouts" from the past, he was removed from excessive work stress at the National Institute of Social Security, the INSS. It wasn't an easy leave; he needed to use his legal skills, but in the end, everything worked out. He took full advantage of this time to improve his self-control. He even tried to save a lady from a mugging by playing the superhero, but it was disastrous. He got shot and realized that modern-life heroes don't last long.

When he returned to work, he found a hostile environment. His superiors no longer trusted him as before. This made the young man gather courage to leave his super job and venture into the career of an autonomous entrepreneurial lawyer in his hometown, with his own office and close to his wife, now a few months pregnant. Everything was going very well in this new phase of Eduardo's life until a cloudy autumn afternoon.

Eddie left his office around 7:00 PM and decided to stop by the spiritist center before heading home. Everything he learned in the center of São Paulo, with Marcelo and Professor Carlos, he applied in a house in Bragança Paulista, helping people in every way he could.

When Eduardo set foot inside the spiritist house, he had a leap into the past without even having time to think:

He saw Andrey, the Nordic man who rescued him in the Middle Ages when he "traveled" for the first time, dead in his arms. A black silhouette in the background showed Andrey's tormentor, but Edward couldn't identify the author of that atrocity.

Soon after, he went to the future again. Eddie made love to a beautiful blonde girl, Beatrice, his companion from the future. The girl noticed that her lover was far away in daydreams, but decided to ignore it. When they finished, Beatrice inquired:

– Your returns are becoming more continuous, and they may be harming you. Edgard, the present is now in the year 2089. You are remembering one of your past incarnations, very important for us from your past. But be careful not to get stuck there!

– Beatrice! I need to remember; the future of humanity depends on us! I will go back to 2019 as much as necessary until I remember. The present is now, but only by knowing the past will I have answers for our future!
