The one that refused to leave his head… Was the part about Elysia crying herself to sleep.
"One last thing, Mr. Windsor," Elysia's sister said. "If you have a shred of decency left..."
She looked him straight in the eye.
"...you'll sign the divorce papers and set my sister free."
Declan slowly lifted his gaze to meet hers.
She held it for a second longer before turning around and walking back into the house with her daughter.
Nicole remained where she was. She looked at him one last time.
Then… She shut the door in his face.
The sound echoed through the quiet afternoon.
For a long moment, Declan simply stood there. He felt like a cat that had just been drenched in freezing water.
