As much as she hated this house and everyone in it, she dreaded what was coming even more. There was a reason none of the slaves were over eighteen. That was the age that a wolf would discover their mate, their other half, the person they would do anything for.
Before she ever stepped foot in this house, before the current Alpha was Alpha, there had been an incident of a warrior finding out his mate was one of the slaves. He was told to reject her, but refused, killing several fellow warriors and even attacking the Alpha to free his mate. Since then, slaves were always taken away before they turned eighteen and the strength of the collars wolf suppression was increased. They were lucky to get a small fraction of their wolf's healing and that was all. Rose had never met her wolf.
They were never sure what happened to them. If they were killed, sold off, or the most least likely, released. All they knew was that they were never seen again. Rose was sure that she was, or would be turning eighteen soon, which meant her days were numbered as were Amy’s.
Even if her mate was somewhere in the house or pack she would reject them even if it killed her. But she was not going to be given that option. She dreaded leaving the others behind, hoping that they would be taken care of, she had taught them all the tricks that the girls before her and shown her.
The rest of the day was uneventful. They were struck a couple of times for being slow or in the way but nothing as bad as what happened to Diana. By the time the others went to bed, Rose only had a small bruise forming on her left cheek.
Rose checked in on the girls, especially Diana who was looking slightly better, before putting on an old hoody, stained shorts and ratty gym shoes and making her way upstairs. The house still active but it was winding down, the perfect time to slip out for her run.
She had thought about running away before, but pervious girls before her had said many had tried before and failed. They were always brought back and had suffered for it. They had been chained naked in the rec room to “service” the pack. They never lasted more than a week in that state before they died. At least, that was what she had been told, she had never witnessed it.
In her younger days she ran away from the house for about an hour but never reached anything other than more pack territory, she immediately turned around and came back before she was discovered. She wasn’t even sure which way she would run much less what was out there for her.
Rose simply enjoyed the feeling of running, her body bracing the cold around her. It had been snowing again. She hated the snow. Her adrenaline accelerating as she ran as fast as she could, as if she really could escape from all of this.
It was two hours of freedom that she needed to help center herself and calm down to deal with the torture that was her life. Those two hours of the wind hitting her face were exactly what she needed.
It was a little after midnight when she snuck back into the house, making a bee line for the basement. Taking off her gym shoes she slid back into the cot and almost immediately fell asleep.
It would be any day now, she knew it. She prepared the girls for her departure, making sure they knew how to secure extra rations and supplies and how to avoid the higher ranks. It was all she could do to protect them now, just as the girls before her had done for her.
This was her life. She cared for Diana in between tasks and stealing supplies for the girls. They would come for her in the night, pulling her from her bed never to be seen again. Rose wanted to be ready, wearing her shoes and binds to sleep just in case they came for her.
-----
For three days she kept up this routine, each of them only receiving the occasional backhand from some wolf trying to show dominance. Rose was moving about the room, placing clean laundry away in the upper floors when she stepped into the hall coming out of Dominic’s room when she ran into the devil himself.
She barely missed hitting him as she stepped out, laundry basket hitting the floor. How stupid could she be to not check before exiting, she mentally slapped herself. In her hurry to get back to Diana she had messed up. Keeping her head down, she gave a small curtsy, her way of apologizing before she reached to pick up the basket again, hoping to get away without incident.
Luck was not on her side.
“Where do you think you are going, little fox?” he growled as he took hold of her wrist, pinning her to his door, his other hand stroking the braid that was now draped over her shoulder. She hated that nickname, he thought he was so clever. Calling her fox cause of her hair.
Dominic was as dumb as they come but he was still an Alpha. At over six feet, he towered over her easily, staring down at her. She could feel his gaze on her and if he was acknowledging her, then he must be having one of his bad days.
She still did not look up, hoping he would get bored with her lack of reaction like he usually did, but the stars were not in her favor. He must have been really upset because his grip on her wrist tightened while the other moved to her neck. His fingers dug into her, claws extending, breaking the flesh, forcing her to look up as she fought for breath. His normally hazel eyes were darkening, his wolf was coming out.
“Poor little fox,” he moved his face closer to hers, the heat of his breath touching her skin, "if only you could talk. I would love to make you beg.”
The lack of air was making it hard to focus, as he pressed his lower half against her. The hand holding her wrist moved to slide from her waist to her hip. He chuckled, as his grip slightly lessened, allowing air to come into her lungs, “You’ve been hiding a secret little fox.”
This was really not good. He was never one to put his hands on them in that way. Usually, it was a beating or whipping. He never had a shortage of she-wolves clawing to climb into his bed, the slaves were never his type appearance wise.
He gripped her hip harder, pushing himself into her, “Now,” his voice a whisper in her ear, “It may be because I haven’t f****d anyone today, but I think bending you over like a b***h in heat might not be too bad. That way, all I have to look at are the curves you have hidden here and not your tired ass face.”
His words almost brought bile up in her throat, as she felt him hard against her stomach. Panic filled her as she began to struggle against his grip which seemed to only make it worse as his grip on her throat tightened once more, “Don’t fight little fox. You might just-.”
“What the hell are you doing, Dom? Run out of she-wolves so your banging the help?” Violet’s shrill voice had never been more appreciated than it had at that moment, “Pathetic.”
His grip on her loosened, releasing her to fall to the floor as she struggled to catch her breath, “Stay out of it, Vi. I don’t judge you for banging all the Warriors or any male with a pulse.”
She fought every instinct that told her to run, Rose knew better. Any sudden movement from her and their attention would be back on her, she had to be patient and slip away calmly while they argued.
“f**k you, at least I’m not desperate enough to chase around the maids.” She screamed at him, stomping her healed boots, hands on her hip.
He growled deep in his stomach, she could feel the vibration from her place on the floor behind him, “I’d say leaving your legs open for the whole pack sounds pretty desperate to me.”
Their argument grew heated, as she began to move away from them, when the last person she wanted to see came barreling out of his office, “Are you two out of your minds?” his voice more growl than words.
She froze in her place along with the siblings as their father joined in on the argument. She was not coming out of this unscathed, there was no escaping this without some sort of punishment.
“Daddy, I caught little Dommy here about to f**k one of the slave girls right here in the hallway.” Vi turned her shrill voice turning sickeningly sweet as she approached her father and hugged his arm, turning her sly grin at her brother.
Panic filled the Alpha’s features, not allowing either of them to say a word; he broke loose from his daughter’s grip and stormed over to her on the floor. Alpha Samson was larger than his son in every aspect. He was easily four times her size and could kill her with same ease as snapping a twig. Without hesitation he gripped her by her hair and lifted her in the air. She reached up to grab his arm for support as he dangled her in the air before burying his face in her neck. He inhaled deeply as she struggled in his grasp.
“Damn.” He growled. As quickly as he took hold of her, he threw her into the wall. Pain radiating through her at the force, knocking the air from her lungs as she slumped to the ground. Her head throbbing from the impact with the wall as she tried to breath in. Something was broken, she was sure of that.
The muffled sound of arguing was all she heard before everything went black.
--------
Pain, all over her body as she slowly opened her eyes. It was dark and damp and she sighed in relief. She was back in the basement. Her breathing evened out as she allowed her lungs to take in air. Her head was killing her, and she was pretty sure that one of her arms was still healing from being broken.
Rose looked over at Diana who had almost healed enough to get up on her own and it made her smile. Looking down she could see that Rita was sitting next to her bed, head resting near her hand. She slowly stroked her head, taking comfort that it hadn’t been one of them in that hallway.
She healed faster than the other girls and had no problem taking a beating if it meant they were safe. Shaking Rita lightly, she woke the young girl up who immediately hugged her tight. Sending her to her own bed to rest she laid her head down and let sleep take her.
Morning came and her body was still sore but she could still move, only needing to be careful with her still tender arm. The girls only went about their day, Diana able to get up and help with some of the tasks.
The day moved quickly as they were ignored for the most part, avoiding the higher ups at all costs. By the time night came, they were exhausted. Still dressing in her binds and shoes, they went to bed, but sleep would not come.
As soon as she closed her eyes the basement door slammed open and down came two warriors. It was happening.
Before any of the other girls could react one of them had her lifted up and thrown over his shoulder before bounding up the stairs again. She looked down as the other warrior help back the other girls. Rita’s pleading eyes were the last thing she saw before they made it out.
She struggled in his grasp as he carried her through the pack house like nothing out into the front lawn, the cold hitting her skin like a thousand needles. Before she could even react, she was thrown into the snow landing at someone’s feet.
“Is this her?” the man asked. She looked up to she a stout looking man staring down at her, licking his lips as he looked her up and down. A wave of disgust filled her as she tried to scrabble away from him only to be stopped by the same warrior who brought her out.
“Yeah, this is her. The buyer is really willing to pay that much for her? I could get two new little ones for what they are paying for her.” The Alphas gruff voice sounded next to her.
“The place has been looking for a natural red head. Chemically dyed hair is a turn off for some of the higher paying crowed and they like there exotics.” The man continued to eye her, “they’ll need to put some meat on her and fix up her face before letting see customers, but they’ll enjoy her plenty.”
“You’ll bring me the new girls later?” the alpha asked.
“Of course. Load her up, we have a long trip ahead of us.” He motioned for a van that was parked behind him.
The warrior lifted her up by the scruff of her shirt and easily opened the van and threw her inside. She hit the floor with a thud and she could hear the sleezy man yell something about not damaging the merchandise.
Darkness overcame her as they shut the door to the van. The only light coming from a small grate that separated the back of the van to the drivers seat. She listened as the man got into the drivers seat.
He looked back at her through the grate catching her eye, a sly smirk on his lips, “You’re off to the highest bidder my dear.”
