Chapter 9Sean awoke from a painkiller-induced doze, to the sound of the door chime. Aw, what the hell? Could people not leave him the hell alone? He lay for a second, thinking his mother would answer, before he remembered Kathleen was at the mine. She was down there sorting out the fallout—catching up on miners who’d had minor injuries and making sure they were okay to be at the mine’s medical center or whether they should be brought up to the orbital’s hospital.
