I stepped out of the bathroom and my gaze immediately fell on Georgia and Eddie. Hot tears pricked my eyes, but I swallowed them down. Georgia made us all promise we wouldn’t cry at her wedding. Or her funeral.
There was no way I could keep either of those promises, but I didn’t want her to see me.
Georgia had been a part of my life for almost as long as I could remember. As a waitress at Cracked, the best breakfast place in MacKellar Cove, she was a staple in town. Visitors came back year after year to see her, and locals flocked to Cracked to get her daily dose of inspiration and humor.
