Chapter 16
I chased after Scarlett, sand kicking up behind me and stumbling the whole way. Her shoes dangled from her fingers, making it easier for her to run even though she wore a dress.
She glanced back, excitement and temptation in her eyes, and I picked up the pace. No way was I not going to catch her. I ignored the burn in my calves as the dry sand moved out from under my feet and ran toward Scarlett.
Just before the stairs leading to the beach house, I caught her arm and whipped her around toward me. She caught herself with a hand on my chest and looked up at me.
“I caught you,” I said.
She grinned. “You did.”
“That means you’re coming home with me tonight.”
“It does.”
