I could not speak a word for a few seconds. How could I say to Keane that I did not want to leave? How could I tell him that I had fallen for the enemy?
And that person, the man whom I had fallen in love with, did not even deem it necessary to come to my room and bid me a last goodbye.
"Ella?" once again the knock on the door broke my reverie.
I walked to the door and opened it. Keane was standing in front of me with a grim expression covering his face.
"Is she here?" I asked Keane. Still hoping and praying in my heart that Ava had refused to come.
"She is here." Keane mumbled, "She would never be able to see Candice in so much pain."
My heart dropped. Even though Ava's arrival meant my release, there was not even an ounce of happiness that I could feel in my heart.
