I groaned loudly as the unbearable pain hit me without a warning. It had been happening a lot. But this time, it was as though the death had penetrated my skin and was pulling my heart out of my chest.
I heaved. Desperately.
"Christian!" I struggled to push the words out of my mouth.
He pulled back from the hug with confusion and worry clear on his face. As soon as his eyes landed on me, he stiffened and called out my name.
"Hey!" His hand gripped my cheek wiping the tear that had rolled down from my eyes. "Ella!"
Desperation and worry were thick in his words. I was on the verge of fainting. I was sure that life was getting sucked out of me.
