“Let me, you are going to roll down the steps,” I said, and again, she didn't protest when I picked her up and descended the rest of the staircase with her in my arms.
We ate in silence, mostly because she inhaled her meal in less than 5 minutes. She was throwing away all the high etiquette rules Aunt Claire had engraved on her.
She sighed and then closed her eyes. “Sienna… you are too tired,” I said, and she nodded.
“Yeah…” she muttered.
I looked at my half-eaten meal, and then at the woman falling from the chair, and I decided on the lesser evil. I picked her up and took her to bed. This time, I removed her clothes and changed into one of my hoodies, so she could rest properly. I placed her inside the bed and covered her up with the soft duvet.
