Salvatore DiMarco
Fred beamed at Sienna, and somehow I immediately knew something was off. There was no reason for him to be staring at his sister-in-law in such a way.
“So, you met Sienna?” Fred asked me, and I nodded.
“Yeah, a while ago, and man! She is quite something…” I smirked, and he chuckled.
“Really? She seems so shy, boring…” Fred said, and I squinted my eyebrows. Something was not adding up, so I shrugged my shoulders. Sienna Koch was anything but boring. She had fire coursing through her veins.
"Isn't she beautiful?” Fred said, staring at my Sienna.
“Who?” I asked,
“Scarlett, my fianceé…” Fred pointed at my Sienna, and suddenly all the blocks fell into place. Did she trick me? Who does she think she is, making a fool out of me? Should I tell him everything? Is she worth ruining my friendship and business alliance with Fred?
I want to demand answers, but I knew that this was not the place nor the time. I have announced that I wanted to marry Sienna Koch, and if my suspicions are correct and Sienna is not the woman I f****d three years ago… hell will break loose.
I always get what I want, and I want her, whatever her name is. “I am tired… please accept my apology,” I said to Fred, and he slowly nodded. “Yeah, you travelled from abroad… the f*****g jet lag and the time difference…” Fred said, and I nodded.
I headed towards my room and lay in bed. I came here knowing the Koch family would be present. I thought I would see her again, and ask her to marry me, and that she would say yes, because, well, I was now someone… not the nobody she met three years ago.
The f*****g joke was on me… I came here, accepted Fred´s invitation, only to see her walk down the aisle to the arms of another man. My friend and business partner, no less.
I had a restless night, and early in the morning, a knock woke me up.
“Mr. DiMarco, this is for you,” A butler with white gloves handed me a note.
“Thank you,” I said, and then I checked the time. It was barely seven thirty in the morning.
I opened the white envelope and read the fine calligraphy.
“Mr. Salvatore DiMarco,
I am Samantha Koch, Sienna/Scarlett´s mother. I would like to have a private audience with you before breakfast. Meet me in the conference room in twenty minutes…”
Wow, bossy! I get where my Sienna gets the attitude. What would that woman want from me?
I shouldn´t care, honestly, her daughter made a fool out of me, but somehow I was so f*****g curious that without giving it a second thought, I took a five-minute shower, dressed in a button-down and shorts, and made my way to the conference room where she was waiting for me.
I tapped on the door, and a female voice asked me to enter. I opened the door, and sitting in the conference room was a middle-aged woman with beautiful features, just like Scarlett´s, and the weight of the world on her shoulders.
“Thank you for joining me. Please have a seat…” She pointed at a chair, and I, slowly, with deliberate steps, took the seat offered.
“You called up on me. What can I do for you, Mrs. Koch?” I wondered what this was all about.
“Mr. DiMarco… it has been brought to my attention that there was a misunderstanding concerning my daughter,” she said, and I almost scoffed. Who was she thinking she was talking to? I am not a f*****g i***t. There was no misunderstanding; Scarlett Koch was a conniving woman. A deadly f*****g sexy weakness to any man on this planet.
“I don´t think it was a misunderstanding. I believed your daughter tricked me…” I said, and she sighed. I could see how she was trying to put on a brave, poised face. A face Fred's mother has mastered over the years, but this woman didn't have it in her. She appeared to be more noble than the Devereux matriarch.
She took a deep breath, defeated. “I don't know what that girl was thinking! She said, frustrated, and then composed herself, “But, what's done is done, and it is in the past,” she said, and I smirked.
“I don't get it, Mrs. Koch… You summoned me at this ungodly hour to tell me what exactly?” I crossed my arms in front of my chest. I didn´t like to waste my time.
“I know Scarlett did wrong by you, and the future of my family depends on the upcoming wedding.” She paused, and I nodded. There it is… she wants to keep me quiet… “It was three years ago, and you mentioned to Frederick that you were going to ask Sienna Koch for her hand in marriage…” she said, and I nodded.
“I didn´t know at the time that Sienna and Scarlett were the same woman,” I said, and Mrs. Koch sighed.
“Sienna is my oldest… they are not the same woman… There are two Koch heiresses…” she paused, and I lifted my eyebrows. Suddenly, interested in what she would offer for my silence.
“Sienna has a rare beauty, not as evident or loud as Scarlett´s, but she is well-bred, and certainly a virgin…” Mrs. Koch said, and I lifted my eyebrows.
“What do you want from me?” I asked,
“Mr. DiMarco, if you want to marry a Koch heiress, you said you would marry Sienna… then I am offering her hand in marriage for your silence… let´s bury all this mess and move on, as a family,” she said, and I almost choked.
Scarlett was fun, but somehow I was curious about this other woman, a woman no one had ever seen. “Why is she not plastered in every high society magazine?” I asked,
“Well, originally she was to become Frederick´s wife; she was personally trained and bred by Claire; that is how I know she is as pure as they come,” she said, and I took a deep breath.
She was trading her daughter´s life as if she were trading stock. Suddenly, the coldness of the entire situation, and what this woman was offering without her daughter´s knowledge, sent a shiver down my spine.
“Does she know?” I asked,
“She will do as I said,” She said coldly, and I pinched the bridge of my nose. A union between the Kochs and the DiMarcos was a good deal for me… not only would I secure my business with KD Media, but I would have some stocks in there, through my wife.
“Alright, Mrs. Koch… you´ve got yourself a deal…” I stood up and offered my hand to shake.
“Mr. DiMarco… My Sienna, she is a tender girl. She was raised in a very careful way… just promise me, you will treat her right,” she said, and I nodded.
“I will make sure you have breakfast together…” She stood up, and I nodded.
“I will ask the hotel to prepare a table by the ocean, I want to propose properly,” I said, almost smirking.
Scarlett might have tricked me, Frederick might have stolen the woman I wanted for me, but suddenly I felt like I was getting the best bargain of all of us. Sienna was carefully educated to be the perfect wife. She was trained, bred, and educated to shine in high society. She is a f*****g virgin, one I will have a field day breaking into a woman who can please me properly… Her mother said she was not as beautiful as Scarlett. I just hope she is not a witch with warts on her nose. The f**k! What have I agreed on?
