Meeting Kai

Bonnie, Damon and I went to the store to buy groceries and I was sitting in the cart as Damon pushed me. "I got it." He tells bonnie when she tries to push the cart. "Ok." Bonnie says backing off. "We need strawberries, eggs, milk, and ooh candles." I say pointing at them for Bonnie to grab. "I know it's been a while, but you couldn't do magic as an anchor, so I'm curious what momentary lapse of reason makes you think you can do it now." Damon asks Bonnie. "You know, when all this started, you sucked at making pancakes, and now they're somewhat edible." She tells him. "Milk." I tell him as we go past the dairy aisle. He grabs it and passes it to me so I can place it next to me. "There's no reason to be peter pessimist. We have proof we're not alone." Bonnie tells him. "First of all Don't nickname. That's my thing. And this proof, this mysteriously filled in crossword, could very easily have been you." Damon tells her putting sunglasses on. "I didn't fill it in." She says giving me sunglasses after putting on her own. "No. You don't know you filled it in. You also don't know that you talk in your sleep. Eggs." I tell her. "What are you saying? Are you saying I sleep crossword?" She asks me. "I'm saying it makes more sense than the alternative." I tell her siding with Damon. "I get what you're doing." She says. "What am I doing?" Damon asks. "You refuse to have hope that you'll see Elena again so you don't have to be disappointed." She tells him. "I refuse to have hope because there's nothing to hope for." He says. "Pork rinds." I say again in confusion after noticing there was none. Damon takes the list from me."Not on the list and eww." He says giving it back. "No, Damon. There were pork rinds here on this shelf. There have been pork rinds here on every shopping trip we've had for the past 4 months." I tell him. Then we hear music in the background. I grab a bag of chips. "You hear that, Damon? That's what hope sounds like." She tells us. "Hey tell me before you guys leave. I'm staying here with the chips." I tell them staying in the cart. Bonnie shakes her head at me with a smile. "Tell the new guy I said Hi." I yell after them as they follow the music. Damon found me later on. "You look bloody terrible, mate." I tell him still eating chips. "You didn't hear us?"  He asks me. "Hear what?" I ask him. He rolls his eyes at me. "Never mind. Come on we're leaving." On our walk home Damon carried the new guy and they explained what had happened. We get to the boarding house and we tie him to a chair. "You're awake. Good." I say when he opens his eyes. They're so blue and pretty. We just stared at each other until Damon started talking. "Now for the Q&A portion of the evening." Damon says standing next to me holding a poker and a bag of pork rinds. "Let me guess. I answer right, I get a pork rind. Wrong, I get a poker." Kia says. "What? No, no, no. These are for me." I say snatching them from Damon and eat one." You just get the poker." I say tossing the bag back at Damon taking the poker and poking him with it with a smile on my face. "I'd be careful El likes to torture people trust me I'd know." Damon warns him bringing up the time I tortured him with Rebekah. "Yeah. You don't have to do that." Kia says looking at the poker then back at me. "No?" I ask with a pout and twirl the poker in my hand. "We're on the same team." He says looking at me. "Really? Do you always try and kill your teammates?" I ask him with a frown. "The important thing is that Bonnie has her magic back. It worked. What, you? You didn't really think I'd kill Damon, did you?" He asks and then laughs. "In what universe does that make sense? Who would kill 1/4 of our population? I'm not a monster. I knew Bonnie would show up. She always comes back, all 13 times, and I knew with the right motivation she'd be able to access her magic, although I-I did get a little worried with all your bickering that Damon's life wouldn't be enough motivation, but turns out it was. I guess that's just how you two show your love." He explains to us. "So you did all that just to make sure I would have my magic?" Bonnie asks him stepping up. "Of course I did. Because your magic is the key to getting the hell out of here." He says smiling.
