The Dark Turn“How did you find me?” Jonah asked again as he made a sharp turn at a caution light.
They'd agreed to leave Vera's car and let him drive. Vera hadn't answered the question the first three times he'd asked because she'd kept her eyes trained on every person, alley, and street corner they passed. After several miles, though, she must have decided not to avoid it any longer. “I can't tell you,” she muttered. “If I did, you'd write me off as a crazy bitch.”
Jonah grimaced in frustration. “Vera, I won't think you're any crazier than our current situation,” he told her. “If you want me to help you, you've got to help me.”
Vera placed her head in the cradle of her fingers. “Alright, fine. I just—felt like I knew where to look. It's so weird.”
