“To hell with that,” said Jonah, “you got a lot more smarts than you give yourself credit for.”
“Same can be said for you, Jonah,” said Terrence quietly.
Jonah ignored that.
“Are you thinking about Vera?” asked Terrence randomly.
“Of course I am,” said Jonah automatically. “We still don't know what the hell is going on, and who or what is after her. Terrence, I am not crazy. Someone is screwing with time, but what is the end goal? I mean it'd be cool if we could all rewind time here and there to right a few wrongs, but what if someone has a plan that's—I don't know, more sinister?”
Terrence shook his head. “I wish I could help you figure that out, man,” he said. “But even with an indefinite endowment I'm still drawing a blank.”
