Astral Investigations“Nice, Jonah!” exclaimed Bobby. “I'll make a monster of you yet!”
Jonah dropped the dumbbells and attempted to return Bobby's grin, but his entire upper body protested with soreness and discomfort. All he could do was a sort of half-thing with his mouth. He was sure that that was far more polite than it would be to reveal to Bobby that he felt more like a victim than a monster.
“Right,” he muttered to Bobby. “Thanks again, man.”
Jonah left Bobby to cool down, and headed for the kitchen, where he found Liz and Vera in an animated conversation. Liz's eyes fell on him with a mixture of comprehension and pity.
