Academics was in full wave. those type were the lecturers are already threatening you with TEST papers, I must agree it was not an easy one, especially that part were I had to run up and down looking for my course adviser office, sweating myself out, raining curses under my breath to no one in particular, I just wish I had a supper power to just locate the supervisor office without stress I thought, at last here it is.
Standing in front of me was an office with a name tag "course adviser" tracing it down to the handle my eyes fell on the big padlock on the door, the once bright face suddenly turned into a frown, that was where my journey of looking for the course adviser started, which took me almost two weeks before I could get him.
I knock at his door, come in a coarse voice ushered me in, I was greeted with a dark skin man with a puffing face and a round big belly almost resting on the table in front of him, yes! what can I do for you he ask, sir ....sir ... I stutter I want to inquire on how to go about the registration of my courses I said, he look at me with is bloodshot eyes, this man must be an ardent smoker I thought, pointing to a banner on the wall, those are the courses you need to register he said still looking at me with those eyes that says "look at this one forming good student, exam will soon humble you. I quickly copied it and left the office to avoid his eyes giving me a knock on my head (welcome to Nigeria university were your life get stressed and stressed on a daily bases).
I walk to a cafe to do my registrations with the news of the incoming exam slogan, no course form no exam, on getting to the cafe I handed over the work to the cafe man giving directions on what to do, just then, an elegant beautiful lady walked in, yes I knew her from afar, but never been this close before, I stared as she talk with the cafe man, seems there was a problem with her course form, that was never my concern, as long I kept seeing her face was enough for me , but it seems fate as a lot in store for me that I can actually imaging, suddenly she turned towards me, sorry I am having some difficulty with some of these courses she said, her words was like a fragrance of spell that I could not break out from at that time, even if I wanted to, hell no I wouldn't. Hello she said waving her hand across my face, sorry for disturbing she said I know we are in the same department that why I need your help she said again this time with a more apologetic face, no no no I said turning my eyes away from her face to avoid me getting lost in her beauty.
I pointed out some of her mistakes and the cafe man quickly put himself into use and In no time we were done with our course form. sorry my name is Vivian she said as she stressed out her hand for a hand shake, my name is Steve I quickly introduce myself, nice meeting you we both said in coincidence, this must definitely b fate in action I thought to myself. I am so hungry let get something to eat she said, I am not hungry I quickly replied because I was left with just #150 on me, I could literally say that money was my all, don't worry Steve I Will pay she added, I am not that hungry I quickly defended not to sound too materialistic, I insist Steve she said this time with more meaning to it, I had no other choice that to give in, is God not wonderful my people, not only is she beautiful, she is also very caring, this is a blessing from God, if only I knew that blessing was spice up with a little trouble.
I got home very exhausted, I pulled off my shoe and fell down on my bed and dozed off, I barely slept when a knock woke me up from sleep, I knew my lodge mate are at it again, since I pack in I have never been given a chance of rest, I walk sluggishly, before I could get to my door it flung open giving way to fredo wide face, with this your face and nose no wonder ladies never like you I said angrily walking back to my bed, that will soon change he said given me that you will see look ... I knew this boy was up to something. Steve where u dey since (Steve, where have you been ) he ask, how that wan take concern you na (how is it your business)I replied, ah you still dey vex because I wake you from sleep (are you still angry because I woke you from sleep ) he said, ok sorry for that, but I need a favour from you, a urgent one at that he said, bros I never cook, check pot if you nor believe me (there is no food if you don't believe me check the pot ) I said feigning seriousness, Steve that one is not the problem he stressed, then what I ask looking concern, Steve a lady is coming to see me and I need your room to host her he said, I look at Fred not believing my eyes, I touch his neck, Fred you well so (Fred are u OK ) I ask, Steve please he begged, Fred what happen to your room, the last time I check your room is the finest in this hostel and mine the worst, Fred what are you not telling me I ask with utmost seriousness, Fred look at me with this downcast eyes ready to break the snail shell.........
