When Remington fled, I knew I had messed up. I was going to tell her about the problems at the castle and let her decide if she wanted to accompany me. I did not mean to sound like I had not wanted her to join me, but she would not stop so I could explain. She thought I was going to leave her to return to the castle. She thought that I did not want her anymore.
I followed her as long as I could as she ran through the forest. I was not sure where the boost to her speed had come from, but she quickly outpaced me. I followed her scent as far as I could, but when I reached a certain point her scent just disappeared. I knew she had masked her scent, so I tried to listen for the beat of her heart.
