After aunt Odessa shut the door, I heard her heels clicking on the tile floor out in the hall. I smell my mother's perfume before I see her sitting in the HeadMasters' chair at his desk. Her silver hair long and in a neat ponytail. As I looked up, her green and blue eyes were studying my body, looking for a reaction. I sense a small flame in her eyes as she smiled softly to me, pointing to a chair in front of the desk. As I slowly take each step, my breathing hitches and my brain churns.
"My daughter, I know this is a surprise as I said we would discuss this after school but, something happened so I must tell you now. Please sit and I will tell you about your father." Her eyes were so honest as I searched for any misgivings. I rest my hand on the arm as I lower my butt into the rather comfy chair.
As I stare at my mother in amazement, holding my breath. I see her chest move up as she breathes in, biting her bottom lip almost nervously. I have never seen my mother nervous ever in my life. My eyes were as wide as plates as I see my mother this way. My mother then spoke in a low voice, her eyes have a faraway look as she recalls this man.
"He was the most handsome man I have ever seen before in my life. I was 20 and he was 24. His eyes, your eyes, captivated me and drew me into him. We met near a river in a forest in another country. He was riding his beautiful black steed while I was meditating with Odessa and a few other female witches. He stopped and stared into my mismatched eyes. Time stopped. His black hair, that was down to his shoulders, was so shiny in the afternoon sun that it looked a if there were blue in his hair. His fair pale skin was like looking at a porcelain doll. He nodded at me and urged his steed onward. After he left, I felt his eyes on me. Odessa didn't even notice that I wasn't even chanting. After our circle broke, I sat near the river and put my bare feet in. The freshwater felt so cool over my feet. While looking at the water, I saw his face. He smiled at me as I looked at this man next to me. He made a gesture asking if he could sit next to me. I nodded, my mouth suddenly going really dry. As he sat next to me, he handed me a glass. I took it, our hands touching and there was a spark. Our eyes widened as we looked at our hands. He then smiled bigger as his gaze went to my face, staring intently into my eyes."
My mother was smiling from ear to ear, her eyes so happy remembering. I felt myself smile with her. She then continued saying "His voice, was so masculine and deep, the butterflies in my stomach were soaring. He then asked me ""Hello Mi'Lady. My name is Oberon Ambrose. Might I ask your name, beautiful?""All I did was nod until he chuckled softly. I finally found my voice after clearing my throat. ""My name is Tatiana Ember Hallewell.""
"He stared at me in amazement as if he knew exactly who I was. His eyes were now looking at me as if I wasn't a real person. He held my hand gently in his, brought it up to his lips and softly kissed my knuckles. The sparks I felt earlier when our hands only grazed each other was intensified as the sparks traveled up my arm into my heart. The butterflies that were in my stomach moved to my rib cage and I thought my heart would implode on itself. He smiled at me with a sweet yet charming smile and asked "When can I see you again Mi'Lady Hallewell? I must see you again." I tried to answer him but Odessa called out my name then and I turned toward her voice. I felt him drop my hand and when I looked back to where he was, all I saw was a Purple rose with a little note that said ""When you dream of me, I will come to you. See you tonight my sweet."" I clutched the nose and rose to my nose and chest. I hid both in my dress as Odessa came over.
""Dear sister, what are you doing over here all alone? The others are ready to go back home."" Odessa inquired as she eyed me, inspecting something to be wrong. See, at that time, I wasn't High priestess. I was just a young witch studying in the ways of a priestess. Odessa was tutoring me as she was a priestess. Your grandmother was High priestess at the time, but she was ill. The council was looking for her heir in case she died. Usually, it would be the firstborn girl, but Odessa didn't have the needed skills of a High priestess.
Mother's eyes seemed to cloud over slightly. Her lips trembled thinking back to her mother. "Just as I was finishing my studies with other Priestesses, the council came and gave everyone the bad news. My mother was gone. At least she wasn't in any more pain, was all I could think. Upon burying mother, I was to be crowned High Priestess. I was alone in my room, crying on my bed. Then, I heard someone breathing, and it wasn't me. I look over to my window, with tears still in my eyes. There was Oberon, leaning casually against the wall near my window. His face looked somber as he studied me. I wipe my tears away as I smile towards him. He was wearing a nice looking black silky shirt and black trousers. His boots silently walked toward me, his hand extended to me. I took it without thinking as he pulled me up and pressed my body against his, his arms tightening around me as my wet face was on his chest."
"His arms were around my hips, softly rubbing my back up and down, his fingers feathery soft. He pressed his lips against my forehead gently, his breath gently caressing my face. As my river of tears started to evaporate, he lifted my face with a finger under my chin, his thumb gently rubbing my cheek. As I look up into his amethyst eyes, I feel his chest rise and fall against my hands. I find myself leaning closer to him, my arms snaking around his neck interlocking behind. Next thing I knew, we were kissing. His lips cold but warm at the same time.
