Chapter Seven June 1869 Gato, Skeeter, Guadalupe, and the Choctaws had a smooth trip back to Freedom Town. There was much conversation about the future, along with a lot of planning. Although the first days were cheerful, the overall mood began to change during the last day or so when it started to sink in that they would soon be leaving friends and relatives. Skeeter was especially sad to be leaving Solomon. They had gone through a lot as slaves and as free men. When they were children, their parents had been bought at the same auction in Ghana, and they rode the same slave ship across the Atlantic Ocean. Solomon had always been his friend and had looked after him due to Solomon being a few years older. He considered Solomon like a big brother, and Hattie was more like a mother.
