Derrick pushed Mandy away forcefully.
“I'm sorry, I'm just going to….” She couldn't even conclude the statement as she ran out as fast as her legs could carry her.
“Mandy, pick up your clothes and get out!” Derrick stated strictly, finally finding his voice and composure.
She smirked, put on her blazer and picked up her bag.
“The rumors were true. You really did get married to some tiny sissy.”
“That's my wife you're talking about!”
“Oh well… Congratulations on your new ‘bride’. I hope she's able to give you more than I have. Or would ever give.”
“She's far much better than you, Mandy.”
“We'll see about that. Baby boy. I'll just hurry along now. It's a bad thing you had to introduce her to me during our ‘private moment’.
It's sadder that I didn't even get invited to your wedding.”
“Get. Out!”
“I will. But never forget that you're still mine. I have you wrapped around my fingers, Derrick,” she said, slightly rubbing his beard.
She then chuckled, dusted her shoulder pads, and walked away.
Derrick dialed Tom's number immediately.
“How did that b***h get access to my room?”
“I'm sorry sir. She insisted. You know we couldn't have pushed her away forcefully.”
“How did information get to her?” he added and sighed as realization just hit him.
“You know what, just get the car ready, we're going to the Alpha gala today.”
“How many entourages are we making available?”
“I don't need any. We're going alone,” he dismissed him, already bored.
His mind went back to Charlotte and her reaction, and he sighed.
Charlotte stood on the balcony of the second floor, very close to the bedroom.
Her heart felt some little pangs of pain when she saw Derrick with another woman.
“I mean, I know this is a contract marriage. But is this what it's going to be like? My supposed husband is free to do stuff like this with other women, but should I barely speak with another man?”
She felt the slight pain in her heart again.
It wasn't about his refusal to let her talk to others. It was the fact that he was touching another woman.
“Maybe it's because I haven't done it with him yet?
He told me to stay away from him and I know he detests women. What's so special about this one, huh?”
She didn't even realize that tears were running through her eyes.
“Or maybe I'm not sexy enough? Look at that lady, how pretty she is.
I don't think I'm as sexy as she is…. I don't…”
“Miss Charlotte,” Emily called her, and she immediately started wiping her tears before she could get to her.
“Uh, hi”
“We need to get you dressed up for the gala today.”
She faked a smile and followed her in.
Once they were done, she ran to the mirror to check herself out.
“Emily, do you think this is sexy enough?”
Emily was taken aback by that question.
The magenta colored dress accentuated her curves, and very little of her cleavage was out, plus the slight makeup made her look gorgeous.
Her hair was packed and rolled into a bun, with lots of edges around her, and it made her look like a doll.
“I think it is. You will have more than twenty heads rolling at once to look at you,” she added with a smile, and Charlotte chuckled.
“I hope he likes it too.”
“Ohh, he would. I'll be on my way now, miss Charlotte.”
“Okay. Why don't you just call me Charlotte?”
“I would love to, but the boss would have my head served on a tray,” she added, smilingly, and Charlotte chuckled.
As soon as she left, Derrick walked in looking quite disgruntled that he didn't even spare her a glance at first.
She decided that she wasn't going to ask him any questions even though she badly wanted to.
His hair looked quite rough, and his rolled up sleeves showed that he'd been working overtime.
Charlotte stood up immediately, face down. That was when he noticed her.
His eyes scanned through her body, and then it stayed on her chest longer than usual.
He then removed his gaze and walked into the bathroom without sparing her a glance.
She breathed a glance of relief and sat down again.
Immediately after he was out, he picked up a suitcase and walked into the dressing room.
He came out a while after in what Charlotte would describe as the most stunning suit she had ever seen.
His magenta tie complimented her dress and she felt herself blushing for a while before maintaining her composure.
“What you saw earlier, that was nothing,” he said while he put on his wristwatch.
Charlotte wasn't sure if she should say anything, so she nodded to herself, though the hurt was still there.
When he didn't get any response from her, he sighed and picked up his phone.
“Let's go”.
Once they headed out and were in their car, he glanced at her again, then tossed the magenta coloured napkin from his suit pocket on her.
“Take this, tuck it into your cleavage.”
“What? Why?. That would ruin the beauty of the dress.”
Derrick rubbed his head and sighed.
“The last time I checked, you don't get to ask for my orders around here.”
She glared at him for a second and used it the way he asked.
Derrick smiled satisfactorily to himself.
That view was for him only, and not the public eyes.
They drove through the outskirts of the estate and only then did Charlotte realize how big the whole place had been all the while.
Only massive houses were in sight. Not once did she see a bungalow, and it kept her dazed that she didn't notice they had gotten outside the gate.
“Once we get there, I want you to keep to yourself. Don't even say hi to anyone.”
“It's not like I've said hi to anyone since I got here,” she murmured to herself, and Derrick stole a glance at her.
“You think you know where you're at?" I'm giving you these instructions so you can be safe. Disobey me and reap the consequences.
Once they got to a more secluded area that was surrounded by just trees and deep forests, Derrick suddenly halted the vehicle.
“I need you to stay here quietly. I'll be back.”
“What's going…” and there was the loud sound of gunshots which had Charlotte shrieking in fright.
“Please don't leave me here. I'm all my mum has got”.
Derrick rolled his eyes and pulled off his suit jacket.
“Collins actually thought he could play smart with me.”
There was another gunshot and Charlotte's heart skipped multiple beats.
“Stay here”. He repeated and rolled up his sleeves, casually unbuttoning two of his buttons.
He then pulled out a gun from a suitcase she didn't notice was lying on the side, then he opened the door.
His hands moved swiftly between shooting and collecting a sharp sling from his shirt pocket.
She shrieked when the gunshots became so much, and she started praying for death.
When it seemed like she was actually going to lose it if she stayed there, she tried opening the door, but Derrick had locked it.
There were literally so many cars and way too many men that she feared he wouldn't survive it.
Suddenly, a man roughly clad with tattoos all over his body showed up by her side and tried unlocking the door.
She became scared and started looking for Derrick, but he was nowhere in sight.
The door suddenly clicked open and he was staring right back at her.
“Hi, pretty”
“No…please”
