Rohan: You sent everything out. Did you ever stop to think about what would become of Odette?
Rohan: Noemi, you held her place for more than ten years. Now you're destroying her research too. How can you be so cruel?
I laughed once, switched off my phone, and looked away.
When I arrived in Paris, there were dozens more missed calls and messages from Rohan. The newest ones read:
Rohan: Noemi, I'm sorry. I was just frantic.
Rohan: I meant no harm. I love you. I just don't think you should treat Odette this way.
Rohan: Apologize to her. Say you misunderstood everything. Save her graduate spot. We can pretend none of this ever happened. Please?
I read the messages calmly.
