Chapter 7: You cannot run! She inhaled sharply, " I know you're still very confused about what I said to you earlier".. Lyrielle nodded and Mrs Williams continued and looked at the window with a strange look in her eyes. "Lyra ... You're no longer a child. And I'm sure you know that the life you're living now won't last forever. It's time for you to train your wings to fly. It would hurt. They may break. But as long as you can heal, and not give up on yourself, you can surely soar",she stopped , knowing that she really had nothing else to say . "I thought you said you'll be always blunt", Lyrielle said, aggreived. Mrs Williams frowned," I'm going to have to believe that I didn't birth a dumb girl and you understand perfectly everything I'm saying, you just want to act dumb because you should act wise when you haven't seen enough of the world " Lyrielle bit her lip. Her mother was right. ' Who would remain dumb after making acquaintance with books her whole life?', she thought. But still, she still felt like she had not known anything about the real her . The her that she had never even brought up. She had a huge identity crisis. "To be honest mom. I don't really know the type of person I am",she said lowly, looking like a poor homeless kitten ,Mrs Williams softened and patted her long, silky hair. " You will find out. Just trust your intuition when trying to make friends", she replied. Lyrielle nodded and her mother stood up. "Goodnight",she said and walked out. Lyrielle fell back on her bed and stared at the ceiling, wondering how she should go about this self discovery journey. For some reason, she felt that she was going to meet the right person, who would help her out. ******* She had another dream again. This time, she was standing on a barren piece of land, which looked desolate in all directions as far as her eyes could see. Suddenly she saw a tent, dusty and tanned by the sun. She went towards it cautiously and used a hand to open it enough for her to have a peek. She decided to go in,it's not like she didn't need a shelter from the harsh sun. As she entered ,little whiffs of energy wandered around her,and she could hear incoherent whispers all around her. She noticed a painting on the wall, facing her. She approached and felt a sense of familiarity, not until a bone chilling fear gripped her. In the painting was herself,in a tattered deep purple dress. In front of her was a bright shining orb of light and behind her was an endless darkness, threatening to consume her. Her terrified expression was clearly depicted on the painting, and she was shielding her eyes from both the bright light and the overwhelming darkness. She heard a shimmering sound and she noticed a door appearing to her left. She noticed another one to her right and she turned immediately, fully alert. A third door appeared before her and this had patterns engraved on it in shining red. The diagram looked like a wielder of great and mighty power. The power almost consuming her, with the essence of her power around her. It all shone in red. She looked at the other two doors and noticed that they had the same pattern, exactly the same diagram . Except that one emitted a strong foul and dark energy, while the other shone in a bright golden white light. The floating energies around her began to grow denser and the whispers seemed to multiply and grow louder . She finally clearly caught a meaning of the whispers, and all she could her was. "This is your fate!" "No matter the door you chose, you cannot escape it!" "Being in the light is much harder! Open the door to darkness!" "You can't escape!" "It's your destiny!".. "It's the prophecy over you!" "You cannot hide from it!" "You cannot run!!!" The energy around her seemed to be overly saturated and she felt like she was choked. A loud ringing sound blasted into her ears and she covered them, trying to shut out the whispers. She screamed, feeling extremely suffocated and felt herself going weak. The forces and voices around her intensified ten times over and she screamed again, except that this time,it wasn't a scream,it sounded more like an agonized.....roar. ******* Lyrielle sprang up from bed, breathing heavily ,her whole body was soaked with sweat. She quickly scanned her surroundings and realized she was in her room. She held her chest, still forcibly puffing out air in and out of her lungs. This time, she had no doubt that that suffocation was real. She could even feel her lungs ache. She kept puffing air till she calmed down and took better note of her surroundings. Her bedside lamp was off, which wasn't strange, she usually sleeps in pitch darkness. But she jumped out of bed and went to turn on the lights ,and an instant relief washed over her. She looked down on her wet body and sighed , before into the bathroom to take a shower. ******* Taking a shower had never seemed so terrifying and suffocating. Lyrielle couldn't wait to get out of there, rushing the washing process as she feared that the lights may go off and she would be plunged into the endless darkness. She sighed as she wore something and sat on her bed, knowing fully well that she might be paranoid, but she knew now, vaguely, that something,or rather, everything was not normal with her.
