Chapter 6: Perfect, dangerous beauty. Lunch break was over, and Scarlett took her time, even though she only had milk. She didn't notice that when she was going out of the cafeteria and into her classroom, she had a stalker who kept his eyes on her like a new found precious prey. ******* The two sisters got home as usual and they had a lot of things to say. The two girl recounted their experiences at school while their mother listened attentively. "I really don't know why they're all acting strange. I mean... I've always be drop dead gorgeous! And sis had always been.....unhuman ", Scarlett babbled on. "Is that even a word?", Lyrielle raised her brows while Scarlett shrugged. "Duh.... You can't blame me,you're so pretty you don't even have the perfect word to describe you", Scarlett said sourly. "Just say you're jealous", Lyrielle commented. Scarlett widened her eyes in horror, "Jealous?! Hell no! Why would I ever be jealous? In fact,I bet you're not yet as popular as I am. Even one of my seniors couldn't resist my beauty today",she flaunted her hair. "I think there's a perfect word to describe Lyra's beauty", Mrs Williams suddenly spoke up and the dining went silent. "What?", Lyrielle asked. "Perfect", Mrs Williams replied lowly. Scarlett gasped, "Perfect! Oh mi gosh! That word is perfect! No I mean.. it's perfect in a literal sense not perfect-perfect.." " Could you please shut up for once?", Lyrielle snapped and Scarlett pinned her mouth shut. "Her beauty is indeed perfect. It is enough to send people into madness, wanting to claim her,to own her ,to worship her.... And that makes it dangerous ", Mrs Williams said. The sisters stared at their mother. "How?", Lyrielle asked. Mrs Williams sighed, wondering whether her daughter was indeed eighteen or she was just naturally dumb. She didn't plan to tell the girls anything about their origin and fate anytime soon. Since the effect of her magic over them, which made them almost unnoticeable to other for many years ,is finally wearing off. And that was because she needed energy to continue. She could get this energy from Lyra, but she had decided against it. She wants the girls to know people's true nature, once their own true nature was revealed. People are never satisfied with 'being youreself'. They would criticize, bully, shame you, hurt you, damage you,and make you feel like you're too much or too little. Some may appreciate you, others would resent you for getting all the attention. All these experiences were what these girls needed before stepping into the world of the supernatural. Especially Lyra. Her prominent gift was that of light. Very soon, she would become the center of attraction in her school, with many ,both good and bad, coming to her for acquaintance. And as innocent as the dumb girl was, Mrs Williams was very sure she would offer comfort when needed, and her overt trust for people would hurt her. But she needed that hurt, she needs that pain, and that broken, mended heart. Scarlett was harder to handle. Although she was soft, she was cautious. She pretends to see through people and their facades of deceit,so that the people around her would constantly be put on the edge. But in reality, she was as innocent as her sister, only wise. "Mom?",Lyra called. Mrs Williams sighed and rubbed her forehead wearily. "All I have to say that is truly important is... Do not trust anyone. Believe in yourself and only yourself . You two have had each other almost your whole lives, don't let anything change that. Very soon girls, you will begin to see the true nature of people, and Lyrielle...." Lyrielle stared intently at her mother . Mrs Williams sighed again, just the thought of it was making her head ache. "... Stop pretending to be dumb,or at least, just try to be discerning ", she spoke and Lyrielle stared at her in shock, her mouth open. Scarlett tried so hard to hold back her snort, but eventually failed, "Mum really hit the nail on the head... Ouch!!", Scarlett winced rubbing her forehead which Lyra had just hit with her spoon. "Mum , couldn't you really not be blunt?", Lyrielle asked. Mrs Williams shrugged , " I have no confidence as to if you would really understand me if I wasn't straight enough" "Fine, I got it", Lyra grumbled. ******* But Lyrielle kept pondering on the words of her mother that night . She knew she had always had an identity problem. She hardly interacted with other people on an informal basis. So it was safe to say that she really didn't know how to behave when with other people. When it comes to interacting with Mira, she could only call her relationship with Mira a very baseless friendship. For she was just being nice to Mira because Mira was nice to her.
