Going to her father didn’t change the way Albert treated her; even when he got to know that she was with his child.
“You are pregnant?” He snapped at her, his eyes burning with rage.
She cowered back in fear, her trembling hands on her belly in fear of what he might do to her next after his words.
“The daughter of alpha Gibbons? That weakling? How bold of you to think you can have my child.”
He raised his hand to swipe at her but Edna’s intervention made him stop in his tracks.
“Brother!!!” She shrieked, “How can you treat her like that, she is with your child for goodness sake.”
“Stay out of this little sister, I paid for her, so I can treat her however I want.”
With a huge look of disdain, Edna dragged Sophie into her room and tried to console her but Sophie was lost in thought.
“So, father really sold me?” She could not believe what she heard Albert said.
In her father’s house, she has always been treated like a slave but she thought luck has shone on her when she received the news that the alpha of Cain’s pack wanted to mate her, she thought her suffering had ended but she was utterly wrong.
“He might actually come around when you give birth.” Edna said.
Sophie laid on the bed and slowly drifted asleep.

“What is going on? What am I doing here?” Opening her eyes slowly in an hospital room and tried sitting up but the doctor quickly stopped her.
“Please, lay back down. You are not strong for that yet.” He said.
“What am I doing here?” She asked again, her head banging a little bit.
“I think the best thing you need now is enough rest.”
No sooner had he finished his sentence than her father entered the room, opening the door quite roughly.
“Father, what is…”
But he cut her short.
“You, you this shameful daughter. How hard can it be to keep a pregnancy? Are you that useless?” He ranted at her all in one breath.
Before she could reply, the doctor cautioned him and told him to leave the room.
“Do not come back home, I want to have nothing to do with you.” Those were his final words before he stormed out of the room.
To Sophie, everything was like a dream. What could have happened to the baby growing inside of her?.
The last thing she remembered was feeling a sharp pain in her tummy while going to get a glass of water. Is her pregnancy…gone?
“No!!! It can’t be.” She said loud in her head.

Back at the Cain’s pack.
“But this is so unfair brother. You should at least check on her.” Edna grumbled to Albert.
Instead of considering what his sister was saying, he continued with his food and replied casually with his mouth full.
“Is she dead? I haven’t received such news yet so I know she’s fine.”
“You are such an heartless man. Despite everything you have done to the poor girl, she still loves you and wants to have your baby but you are just a beast.”
“Watch the way you speak to me or you face the consequences.”
Edna hissed loudly, picked her car keys and drove out to the hospital to check on Sophie.

In the hospital
“Heyyy.” She said with a smile. “How are you feeling now?”
“Should be feeling better. The doctor said I should be home by tomorrow.” She replied weakly.
“That is good, I can not wait to have you back in the castle.”
“What about Albert?” She inquired from Edna; quite surprised that he has not come to check on her after losing his baby and quite scared what he might do to her when she returns.
Edna rolled her eyes; “Let us not talk about him now, you should focus on getting better.”
Sophie rested back without saying anything further, at least, he would not be mean to her in this situation where she had lost the baby and almost her life, right?
Edna spent the night with her in the hospital

The next day arrived slowly and it was like the sun did not want to rise.
Others would have been happy to be finally discharged from the hospital but not Sophie, she does not want to see Albert pr be close to him but alas, she has to go back.
Edna cleared up her bills and drove her home which was a silent and long ride back.
While entering the castle, she could see Albert’s car drove out the gate with someone beside him and she made out the figure to be a lady or so, she was not sure and she bothered less, she just wanted to rest. Edna tended to her all through.
The following morning, she was woken by a rough knock on her door. It was one of the castle workers sent by Albert to fetch her.
“He demands your presence now.” The servant said.
Dragging herself up half asleep, she found her way before him and she was surprised to see her father and step-mother already seated.
“Here she comes.” Albert remarked.
“Father, what are you doing here?”
But Gibbons only gave her a side look and faced Albert, grinning like a little girl, no feeling of pity for his daughter despite all she had just been through.
“Hmmm, now, what do we do about this? I am sure the next time will be fine.”
Albert adjusted his seat; “I will think about it. She nauseates me with her mere presence, I do not think I will want to touch her anymore. Not that I was happy about her being pregnant in the first place.”
“But you are not sending her back to us, right?” Andrea asked.
“If you want her back, do well to refund my money in full.”
“Want her back? No, you can have her.”
With this statement, they both stood up to take their leave and walked past Sophie where she was standing speechless ad they discussed about her as though she was a mere commodity.
After they left, Albert got down from his chair and walked up to her, lifted her chin with his finger.
“You see now that I OWN YOU? Even your parents do not want you.” He said with an evil smirk and walked away.
Fixed on a spot; many thoughts ran through her mind and tears trickled down her face; remembering everything she has been through.
At that moment, every iota of love she has for Albert vanished and she said to herself while drying her tears.
“I have to leave this hell…..”
