Chapter 4 Protecting the pups

At the border.

“Come on kids lets go and meet dad and mom okey.” Said Aria.

“Okey” they chorused at the same time.

Then they heard the bushes rustling. Aria got a bad feeling and a feeling of dread in her gut, so she told the kids to mind link the alpha and ask for back up.

`alpha we are at the border with Aria, but something is wrong. She told us to tell you to send back up immediately` then the mind link broke.

`Serena. ` The alpha said when he felt the link break which could only mean one thing and he panicked so he mind-linked four of his best warriors to go to the border fast. He couldn’t help feeling a feeling of dread take over him.

The warriors ran as fast as they could but what they saw made them see red. Aria was fighting of five rogues while hiding the kids behind her to protect them but then out of nowhere one more rogue showed up and attacked her and she pushed the kids out of the way. And when she had pushed the wolf away, she got distracted by hearing the children whimper in pain and got attacked. But strangely the wolf didn’t hurt her it only held her down and keeping her from going to the kids. Then a wolf dug its claws deep into Serenas shoulder and she cried out in pain. Mira got mad at seeing this and was frustrated that she couldn’t save her friend and sister. Then she too was attacked and unlike Serena the wolf who was grey as ash bit her in her shoulder and tore of some of her skin. Then when the wolves were going to give the kids the final blow the warriors showed up hungry for blood. They were parents themselves and the scene in front of them made them and their wolves furious and wanted blood for what they had done to the kids. Then they attacked the rogues and killed them while aria pulled the kids towards her chest so they couldn’t see what happened. Serena and Mira then passed out. Aria panicked and when the warriors saw this they shifted and took out some clothes that was hidden amongst the trees. Mason and Jason who were twins carried the children while Jason and Jace who were also twins helped Aria who was also hurt to the pack hospital. When the pack doctor saw the kids, they immediately took them to the ER and put them down on a bed in the surgery room. They stopped the bleeding and then gave them a blood transfusion so they wouldn’t die of blood loss from surgery.

The surgery went well and now all they could do was wait for the children to wake up. Aria got help from a nurse to heal her broken ankle and put a cast on her leg. Then she was asked to stay for the night so they could keep an eye on her in case they have missed something. She told the twins to get her sister and friends here. They promised her that they would tell them but that they could see them until tomorrow morning.

At the royal Lycan pack.

Suddenly, I felt restless and distressed and began to pace around and then my mate came and by looking at him I knew that he could feel it too. Then our betas came and looked both distressed and frustrated and that was when me and my beta Ellie knew that we felt what our babies feel which meant that they were in danger. Then suddenly I felt this excruciating pain in my shoulder and let out a scream in pain and so did Ellie except that her pain was twice more painful than mine. You could see it in her face and eyes. Our mates had to hold us to their chests. I felt how her lifeline was slipping and started to cry and praying to the goddess to save our children and so did Ellie. My mate smiled sadly indicating that he also felt her lifeline slipping. Then suddenly I felt this feeling of sleep and grogginess take over and knew then that my daughter was safe she was in the hands of a doctor and probably had to fall asleep for them to perform a surgery on her to save her life. I looked at Ellie and could tell that she felt the same feeling I did. We smiled and hugged our mates who didn’t look so sad anymore. They looked worried and relieved that their daughters were okey. The next two hours was the hardest time ever. Then after a few more hours I felt her lifeline stop slipping and it felt stronger than before which meant that she was going to be okey. I smiled and hugged my mate, and he hugged me back.

Back at the pack hospital.

Aria refused to sleep until she had seen that the girls were okey and that they were still alive and not dead. Eventually the doctor agreed and asked the nurse to take her to them, but she couldn’t go inside she have to watch them from outside the window. The girls shared a room, and their beds were right next to each other. Their hands were intertwined. They looked so peaceful while sleeping. She watched them for a few minutes and then decided that they were fine, so she told the nurse to take her back to her room which she did. Then she fell asleep a few hours later. She woke up at 9 am to the sound of people talking. She blinked a few times so her eyes could get used to the bright light in the room and then opened her eyes wide open to see who were in her room. And to her surprise she saw her sis and their friends in the room. She smiled and then coughed because her throat was dry like a leaf and hurt so she needed to drink some water before she can talk to her friends. Her sister noticed that she was awake and immediately poured some water in a glass and took a straw in it and gave it to her. She sips on the straw for a few minutes then the glass was empty. Only then did she notice how thirsty she was. then they asked how she was feeling and if she was hurt. They talked for a few hours then they went home except for Mika who walked to check on their kids. They weren’t allowed to see them yet so they could only watch from outside the window which broke her heart because she wanted to be in there and hold their hands and tell them that everything is going to be okey.

In the alphas office.

“Have you found a replacement yet Marc?” said the beta.

“No not yet but I have someone in mind who would be perfect at the job.” He said looking proud.

“Good who is this person you speak so highly about?” asked the alpha.

“Jax. He is my right-hand man when we go on missions, I have been his trainer and mentor since he was a pup. His father was the former Delta before me. I have to say that he may argue with your son a lot in the future because they have different thoughts already. And Daniel is only 7 years old. If someone can set your son straight when he messes up as alpha and you aren’t here, I’m sure Jax will set him straight for you.” Said marc.

“Really well his father was a great delta and I’m sure Jax would be of great help to my son when he is alpha. Yeah, I know. That’s for sure, I’m sure Jax would that for me. I’m glad you picked him marc. Good work.” Said the alpha.

“Thanks alpha. It has been an honor and pleasure working with you all these years.” Said Marc.

“Same here Marc my friend.” Said the alpha.

Marc was on his way home when the warriors who saved his friend and his girls came up to him and asking how the kids are feeling and when they were discharged from the hospital. He thought it was funny and amusing seeing the four best warriors in the pack flip out like this. He laughed and told them to calm down and that the girls haven’t woken up yet but that they are out of danger and will be fine after some rest. They nodded and asked if they could come visit the kids after they are well again. Marc agreed and told them that he will call them when they have woken up and update them. they nodded and smiled then they walked to the training grounds. Marc went to the hospital to pick up his mate and check how their girls are doing. When he got there, he saw Mika standing and watching their girls closely. He walked behind his mate and hugged her telling her sweet words to calm her down and telling her that they will be fine. Then she turns around and he pulls her to his chest and hug her tightly while she starts crying and sobbing. After a while she calmed down, they looked at their kids one last time then they turned around and walked out of the hospital and went home to spend some time with Marc`s brother Marcus and his mate Avery until they must go back home again.
