Tager and Hausman had just escorted Sarah upstairs as Nick, Julie, and Beau watched from the shadows of a distant alley. Connard scratched himself and exhaled deeply from boredom. Beau had predicted that they wouldn't keep her at the police station, and he had been correct. Nick couldn't even remember what Beau had originally told them at the bar. He'd been too drunk. But after everyone had slept it off in their own booths off in the shadier parts of the bar, Beau had apparently changed things, in his head, in the middle of the night.
