The sky above Sector 9 cracked—not with thunder, but with pressure.
It was like the world held its breath.
Ares stood barefoot in the dirt as Daevor approached through the smoke.
Each of Daevor’s footsteps melted the ground.
Each of Ares’s breaths rippled with three clashing forces:
• Air, dancing around him in cyclones.
• Shadows, licking at his heels like wolves.
• Lightning, crawling through his veins like venom.
But he wasn’t in Flow State yet.
Not fully.
Not yet.
“You look smaller than I imagined,” Daevor said, voice deep and without a hint of mockery.
Ares took a step forward.
“You look older than your crimes.”
Lightning cracked behind him.
