Chapter 5

It took Mia a while to know the old woman was referring to her. However, that name was her mother's name, not hers.

"My mother's name was Mirabel and my name was Mia. Do you know my mother?" She replied before asking.

Old Madam Scottish couldn't hold herself back, tears streamed down the corner of her eyes as she stared at Mia affectionately.

"What is happening here? Do you know my daughter-in-law or something?" Old Madam Brown interrupted.

"I think she was our granddaughter. She resembles our late daughter a lot", Old Master Scottish replied.

It was like another tragic episode for Mia. In a single day, she discovered she had lost her virginity the previous day. Her boyfriend cheated on her while Vivian set her up last night. Eugene sold her out, she entered a marriage contract, got the marriage certificate, and now she was the granddaughter of a billionaire family. What on earth is happening?

Old Madam Scottish moved closer to Mia and held her hands. "What is your father's name?" She asked in a low breaking voice.

"My father is Arthur Guilford" Mia replied, still in confusion.

As soon as Mia responds, Old Madam Scottish pulls her into a deep hug. "It's you Mia. I thought I wouldn't get the chance to see my daughter again, but seeing you now makes the joy come back alive. We are sorry for taking too long to find you"

Mia was still in a daze about what was happening, but she decided to console the old woman first before asking for more details.

After spending a few minutes in that position, they disengaged and everyone sat down to listen to the explanation, especially Mia. She was curious to know everything.

"When Mirabel was at your age, she chose your father over the family and ran away with him. She used all her money on your ungrateful father....."

By the time Old Madam Scottish finished her explanation, Mia was already in tears and was fuming in anger. It appears that her mother sacrificed her life in the end for a man like her father, who isn't worth any penny of her kindness.

"We are so sorry Mia, we failed to protect your mother", Old Master Scottish apologized.

Now that she has found her grandparents, they have become her only family. The moment Richard took her out of the household, they had already cut ties with her and she would do the same thing.

"Don't worry anymore, I will accept my parents and grandparents. Since I resemble my mom, I will call you Mom and Dad" Mia teased at the last part and everyone chuckled, including Richard.

He suddenly found her interesting and brave as everything became clear to him that Mia was being maltreated by her family.

"Wow, no one could think this gathering would turn into a reunion. It seems the Brown and the Scottish family will continue their friendship now that our grandchild has married each other" Old Master Brown said clapping, while others joined.

Old Madam Brown smiled at Mia, she already loved everything about her. "I can't even believe that Richard would meet a damsel like you. C'mon tell me, how did you guys meet?" She asked with curiousness.

Mia choke upon hearing that question and Richard pass her water instantly. "Easy on yourself"

"Granny, this is a joyful moment. Don't spoil the fun and let's eat" Richard suggested and everyone agreed.

They all eat together and drink to their satisfaction but they keep their base and didn't get drunk.

It was such a happy moment for Mia in her whole life, everything seems like a dream. Who could have thought her life for good would change within a day? A hopeless girl like her find a new family.

After the long night, they couldn't return to the estate, so they spend the night in Brown's family house as well as the Scottish family. Although it took awhile before the Old Master Scottish accept to pass the night, he was a man of principle.

It was awkward for the two of them in the same room as they were going to share the same bed.

"You don't have to worry about me Mast... Richard, I will sleep on the couch" Mia quickly correct herself after noticing her mistake of calling him Master.

"Mrs Brown, we are already pronounced as husband and wife. Why are we sleeping separately?" Richard retorted.

Mia knew it's no way for argument, she slowly climb the bed and cover herself with the blanket.

"You are not even taking shower" Richard sneered before walking into the bathroom.

However, Mia wasn't concerned anymore as her eyes is already closing little by little before shutting tightly into a deep sleep.

A few minutes later, Richard came out of the bathroom in a white towel. The room light was still on and Mia's face could be seen clearly as she looks so innocent in her sleep.

Richard smile shortly and move close to her, he stare at her for awhile before switching the light off and then he climbed the bed.

Only the sound of their breathing could be held as they both sleep on the bed.

Late in the night, Richard begin to move his head swiftly. Sweat crept out of his skin as his eyes seems to be shut tightly with more force. All of a sudden, he held his head tightly and begin to groan in pain, waking Mia up in the process.

Mia almost scream out in shock when she realized the light was off, she always sleep with the bulb on. However, the man beside her divert her attention.

"Master.... Richard? Richard? Are you okay?" Mia asked as he tapped him repeatedly. But then, his groan become louder and louder.

In confusion and worried state, Mia manage to switch on the light just to see Richard drenched in sweat as he battle with his breathe.

"Richard?" Mia called and tried to calm him down. Out of what she knew about nightmare, it was painful and scary. The only way she thought at that moment is to console him slowly.

Just as she touch his forehead, Richard grap him with full force and ended up in his chest.

"Please don't leave me”
