CAROLINE I opened my eyes to a pounding headache and groaned at the bright lights. The ceiling was unfamiliar and the beeping sound in the room made me scowl. Someone turn that off! "Susan," I struggled to sit and heard footsteps rush towards me. "Thank God you're awake!" she sobbed in between, grabbing my shoulders gently and helping me sit. She arranged the pillows behind my back. "Water," my throat was dry like I just walked through a dessert. She handed me a glass and I drank quickly, almost choking. "Take it easy. I was so worried." I looked around the private room, wondering how I got here. I couldn't remember anything after I stepped out into the hall trying to get away from Malcolm. "What happened? My head feels so light. I feel like I skipped a huge chunk of my memory." I
