Chapter 4: Don't Ask Questions

Liora’s POV

‘’Ask him what happened’’ My eyes moved from my phone to Nikolai but he was already looking at me.

‘’Give me your phone now’’ I stared at him looking shocked and confused.

‘’What?’’

‘’I said give me your phone now’’

He looked very serious because his expression had already changed but I still held my phone firmly.

‘’And why would I give you?’’

‘’Liora’’

‘’Don’t Liora me’’

‘’Give it to me’’

‘’You’re not my father’’

‘’I wouldn’t have to if you had just listened to me’’

Few minutes later…

‘’Who messaged you?’’

I froze, how did he know someone had just messaged me?

‘’How do you know someone just messaged me?’’

‘’Hmmm you know something’’

‘’I just asked you a question’’

‘’Don’t try to switch up, I asked one first’’

‘’Liora give it to me’’ Then he reached for my phone, I still held it firmly but I couldn’t for so long.

‘’Show me the message’’

Until my phone buzzed and a message popped up from an unknown sender again.

He looked at my phone and his expression changed ‘’who is doing all these?’’

‘’Who even told you about Elena?’’

I stood there confused because that voice came from behind me but I turned around and to my surprise it was nobody. I looked at my phone and another message popped up.

…..ask Nikolai about Elena Huh, I looked so confused. Everything had suddenly confused me the more.

I heard a voice ‘’who’s there?’’

Nothing but silence once more ‘’show yourself now’’

Nothing happened and no one came out and I didn’t see anyone.

My phone vibrated and I almost dropped it because another message from the same unknown sender had just dropped.

…..stop trying to look for truths that isn’t looking for you I remained lost and a bit angry cause I didn’t understand what I had just read.

‘’Looking for someone?’’

I was startled ‘’Nikolai?’’

‘’What are you doing here?’’

‘’I could ask the same thing’’

‘’I came back to get my phone’’

‘’Hmm then why do you look like you have seen a ghost?’’

I tried to walk away quickly but he pulled my hands.

‘’Liora’’

‘’Let go of my hands’’ He let go of my arms immediately but neither of us moved after that.

‘’What happened?’’

‘’Nikolai’’

‘’What?’’

‘’Why did you send me a message?’’

‘’What message?’’ he said in confusion

‘’The one telling me to leave Elena alone’’

He stared at me and for the first time in a while, Nikolai looked as if he was caught off guard.

‘’I didn’t send you anything’’

‘’Hmm’’ I studied his face and he looked serious

‘’Then who did?’’

‘’I don’t know’’

‘’Then how do you explain….’’

Suddenly we heard people screaming, we both turned towards the sound then Nikolai immediately stood in front of me.

‘’Stay here’’

‘’What, why?’’

‘’Don’t move’’

‘’And I asked why’’

‘’He didn’t answer’’

He walked into the locker room and I followed him closely but secretly.

‘’Liora I said stay….’’

We both stopped but this time around, one of the lockers was open. The same locker I was standing beside few minutes ago. Nikolai walked towards it slowly.

‘’What is that?’’ I pointed

There was something lying on the floor and it was a small golden object. I remained silent because I knew exactly what that was.

‘’Liora don’t’’

It was already too late so I bent down and picked it up.

‘’Someone had just threatened me because I had asked about Elena so I’m not dropping it’’

‘’Do you think I don’t know that?’’

‘’Then talk less and help me’’

‘’I can’t’’

‘’You can’t or won’t?’’

‘’You know something?’’

‘’I know enough to tell you to stay away from this’’

Elena’s necklace, the same necklace with the initials E.M, the same necklace with the date 05.04 except there was one problem. I didn’t leave it there neither did Nikolai.

‘’Put it down’’

‘’Why?’’

‘’Just put it down’’

‘’Why are you scared?’’

‘’I’m not scared’’

‘’You look scared’’

‘’Liora, listen to me’’

‘’Don’t touch anything else’’

‘’Why?’’

‘’Because someone put it there’’

‘’Someone wanted you to find it’’

The warning felt different, this wasn’t just someone telling me to stop asking questions but they were leaving clues or they wanted me to know something.

‘’Who would do this?’’

Nikolai didn’t answer

‘’Nikolai?’’

He said nothing

‘’You know, don’t you?’’

‘’I could take a guess’’

He moved closer ‘’Liora I’m serious’’

‘’You need to stop stalking Elena’’

‘’Because Elena isn’t the only person who disappeared after getting involved in this’’

He looked away immediately

‘’You just said Elena wasn’t the only one who disappeared’’

He looked at me and I saw something I hadn’t seen before. It was real fear.

‘’Go home’’

‘’I want my answer first’’

Nikolai Voss just said please and this situation became scarier, for him to say please?

He wasn’t trying to hide Elena’s secret because he didn’t trust me. I think he was trying to protect me from it. Before I could say anything, another message popped up.

I opened it, there was no threat or warning. I just saw a photograph and it was a picture of Nikolai and Elena. They were standing together on the ice smiling but that didn’t terrify me. It was the date written underneath the photograph ‘’05.04’’ and beneath it were just four words.
