33 I had one more stop to make before the grocery store. Cooper’s was open, but it was too early for a crowd. A youngish guy in a heavy metal shirt was working at the bar, but he slipped behind the curtain as soon as he saw me. By the time I made it to a bar stool, Glenn had emerged from the back. “The usual?” he asked. I sighed. “The usual when I’m being no fun.” He rested his elbows on the bar, and one side of his mustache curled more than the other as he smiled. “Darling, you are the rare creature who is fun both sober and intoxicated.” I felt myself blush. “Thank you, Glenn.” His smile turned wicked as he pushed himself away from the bar. “Of course, they’re different kinds of fun,” he added suggestively, pouring an uncorrected Coke over ice.
