CHAPTER 8: BUT YOU'RE A GIRL

2401 Words
“Just stop messing with Ambrose, brother,” Meera warned Mason while they jogged towards the supermarket. Meera's instincts always told her that Ambrose wasn't as bad as he was a few centuries ago. The elders taught his reign and origin to all the packs back in Romania. Everything from his powers and strength to his ability to kill his prey instantly. There were also rumours of him torturing werewolves, poisoning them with silver and wolfsbane, and even biting them and letting his vampire venom drive them mad until they beg for him to end their lives. But when Meera met him back when she was 15, he was the first man, apart from her brother and father, to treat her with respect and saw her as a lady. He conversed with her and asked her questions, like what it was like to be a werewolf and what she wished to do after she graduated from the pack's high school. When she told him she wanted to be a warrior, she expected him to laugh in her face, but he was impressed and offered to spar with her and showed her some of his moves for the three weeks he spent in their pack. And she must admit, it helped her solidify her place as a warrior in her pack. “Don't worry, sis. I just like f*****g with him,” Mason chuckled. “I bet you won't be laughing when he rips your spine out for lying to him. What do you think will happen when he finds out we are now considered rogues because of what we found about the Alpha King?” Meera got serious. They continued to voyage through the woods that separated the Covali castle and the tiny supermarket off the highway. "Technically, I didn't lie, I just bent the truth a little. I knew, with him being the Vampire King, he could sniff out a lie from a mile away. So, that's why I disrupt him with my colourful personality to rile him up, so he doesn't truly read me.” Mason confessed. “But Dad always liked him and, to be honest, even though the cold bastard scares me, he isn't that bad. He always kept the peace between the two communities, and with the Alpha King joining forces with the Hunters, we need Ambrose on our side.” Meera sighed. She remembered Ambrose's second visit to her pack. She was 18. He was there to administer some new rules in the treaty established between the vampire and werewolf nations. She relived when he ripped a rogue's heart out for killing a young vampire near her father's borders. Meera shuddered at the memory. She recalled being terrified of him that when she saw him out in the woods one night after her run, she froze and begged for her life. But instead, he chuckled and confessed to following her out there to ensure she was OK. He found it weird for her to be running in the woods alone, even though it was in her nature. She had a friendly conversation with him. And she could have sworn he flirted with her. It made her feel beautiful for the first time in her life. Now she was 21 and unmated, and it wasn't the fact that she couldn't get a man because male wolves from all over, lined up a year after her 18th birthday, asking for her hand in marriage when news rang through the lands, that the daughter of the Alpha was still mateless. But none of them was her true mate and she rather not be anyone's chosen mate, so she refused their proposals, using the 'I want to find my fated mate story' to get her parents to refrain from giving her hand to someone who was not meant for her. But even though the reason was somewhat true, the main reasons were she wanted to avoid being mated so young and she wanted more than anything to become a warrior. She needed to solidify herself as a respected fighter, so that when her mate came along, Alpha or not, she wouldn't feel resentful for not following her dreams of becoming a warrior and just baring pup after pup. Meera trained harder than anyone in the pack to follow her dreams, so when her parents died, no one hesitated when she was appointed the Beta position. She was one of the fiercest warriors of them all. The jog only took them an hour, and it was getting late. They would have been there sooner if Mason's wolf didn't stop to chase deer in the forest. Meera was frustrated. All she wanted was some rotisserie chicken and bread, but her wolf, Silviea was now full of the leftover deer meat, that Cezar, Mason's wolf shared with them. She just wanted to curl up in the grass and sleep, but Mason demanded to go get gummy worms and soda, like his brain needed additional things to help in its decay. “I need to take a leak.” Meera stopped and waited for her brother to do his business. Meera's wolf was fidgeting, circling in her head, sniffing, and grunting. “What is it, Silviea?” “Mate, I smell mate.” “Our mate is here? But I thought the Moon Goddess forgot about us?" “I need to shift and run to mate,” Meera ignored her wolf and focused her nose, trying to pick up any essence of her mate's signature scent. The wind gently made its presence, rustling the fallen leaves around their feet and tickling the green ones that still hung on for dear life on the tall, twisted branches of the gigantic trees around them. And there it was. She inhaled deeply, letting the sweet smell of pinewood and incense wash over her senses. “MATE!” she roared out, catching her big brother off guard. Mason hurriedly emptied his bladder, giving Big M, as he referred to it, a little shake, before putting it away and settling at his sister's side. “Meera, are you certain?” Mason asked. What were the odds of his sister finding her mate in America? There were no packs in these parts. He checked twice before they travelled there. Meera nodded her head a yes. "OK, we will press on with caution. He might be a rogue.” This Meera already surmised because, like her brother, she knew they weren't any packs around this area in America. They continued in the grocery store direction. “Wait! Do you sense that? Another wolf is here. It's my mate,” Meera spoke as she halted, clutching her brother's shoulder as a warning he should stop too. She was nervous. They stayed behind the last stretch of trees. The building was in view, so they surveyed the car park in front of them. Meera captured another sharp breath, relishing the sweet smell of her mate. She lifted her foot and tried to step over the threshold and into the car park. A deep calm settled in her bones. "There, look," Mason pointed towards an elderly woman wielding her handbag like a crazy person, yelling and screaming at a car. "I think it's that old lady." "What? I'm mated to a half-dead granny?" Meera stepped back, ignoring her wolf, while she hid behind a tree. "That doesn't make sense," Meera zeroed in on her. "Wait, she's talking to someone in the car." They noticed the shoulders of the old lady relax and soon after, a young man stepped out of the vehicle. "It's him, it's him. It's our mate!" Silviea howled. "Calm down!" Meera told her wolf as she watched the young man's slightly toned back enter the supermarket. "What a beautiful f**k!" "Hush it or else," Meera warned her wolf. Mason, on the other hand, was thinking to himself that the young man was far too small to be a high-ranked wolf. "What do you want to do, sister?” "I don't know if we should go out there and risk being seen?" "Why? Because of the old she-wolf? I don't think she's a threat. There are no packs in these parts. She could be a rogue, just like your baby boy." "He's not my—you know what. Let's just go." The siblings emerged as soon as they saw the old she-wolf entering the store behind the young man. Meera's hands trembled the closer she got to the building. “I'm right here, sis. Everything will be OK." Mason assured her. She stopped to catch her breath outside the entrance. Her eyes sparkled when she saw her mate through the glass windows. He had his head down, running his hand over the peaches in front of him. The old wolf was talking to him, while she placed her palm on his shoulder as a way to comfort him. Meera drooled when she discovered how dark and lovely his skin was. Her mate lifted his head and their eyes met, curiosity etched into his lightly muscular shoulders. For a moment, she was frozen. But she quickly ducked out of sight, grabbing her brother with her. “This is stupid. Just go talk to him. He must have smelt you too.” “Yeah, you're right.” Meera got the courage to enter the supermarket. His scent became stronger, causing her mind to become a smoky haze. That's when her wolf figured it out. “He's human, our mate is human.” “Human!" “Sorry, sis. I detected it from in the car park, but I wanted to make sure.” The siblings always hated interactions with humans. They even dreaded the idea of going into a supermarket full of them, and now one of them was mated to one. This could not be happening. “Do you think he has big balls? We could butter his ass and slide our body over it.” “Stupid wolf, humans mate the same as us.” “Think of all the s*x and pups we will have." Silviea grinned. "Think of all the s*x we will have!” Meera rolled her eyes as she walked up to her human mate. “Wow! Handsome,” Silviea mused. “our mate is so handsome.” She was so extra, she always speak everything twice. Meere sucked in a deep breath as she studies his attire. He looked up and smiled at her. And that's when Mason realized something crucial. Meera admired him as he placed around a dozen peaches in his shopping cart. And she followed him as he went to a different aisle. She thought about what she should say to him and wondered if she should ask him to come back with her to Romania. She watched the way his ass swayed in his baggy jeans and how sexy he strode in the Timberland boots he wore. Not only that, but she thought his ass was a little curvaceous for a man, but she always liked shapely women… And men. She stopped when she saw him pick up some purple-looking thing in an oddly shaped bottle called Veet. Her ears picked up something her mate said about a woman named Donna, but she wasn't focused too much on his conversation with the old wolf. But Mason was intuned to everything and waited for his sister to pick up on the fact. Meera's eyes zeroed in on the sweat trickling down her mate's neck and rolled between his tiny breasts that were settled underneath his V-neck shirt. Then he picked up a box of tampons—then. Wait, tiny breasts? Tampons? That's when she realized that her mate wasn't a man, but a woman. She tried to turn and run out of the supermarket, only to collide in the aisle closest to her, sending herself and the shelves to the ground. “Oh, my God!” Lexi yelled, running over to the young woman, making sure she wasn't hurt. “Are you OK?” Lexi's voice was so sweet that Meera was enchanted. She stretched her hand up to cup Lexi's face, but pulled back before their skins could touch. “You're a girl!” That's the first time mason heard his sister's heart racing since she smelt her mate. Meera's pulse started its own little sprint through her veins, while she tried to figure all of this out. But her wolf wasn't helping her to think straight. Silviea was on her back with her wolf-p***y opened wide, shouting for Lexi to take her right there in the supermarket. Meera was also turned on, her arousal was choking Mason and Mitsy too. Lexi grabbed Meera's hands to help her up, and the sparks lit up her skin like fireworks on the 4th of July. “You're a girl,” Meera spoke again. “I know. You said that already.“ Lexi couldn't explain what was happening. Suddenly the pain of her and Donna's breakup felt like a distant memory. Meera wanted to fight her wolf, but she couldn't. Meera bit down on her lip. Her n*****s rock hard. Lexi smiled when she realized what she was doing to this woman. Lexi got brave and cupped Meera's face. “What is your name, gorgeous?” “Meera,” she replied, grinning, loving the way her mate's fingers felt on her chin. Lexi was licking her lips, wanting badly to kiss this angel in front of her. Meera cleared her throat, realizing what was happening. “But, you're a girl.” “Yes baby, I'm a girl, and you're a girl, so let's follow our bodies and make sweet lesbian s*x," Lexi grunted. That did it for Meera, she growled, hating all of this. What the f**k was the Moon Goddess thinking? “She was thinking we like muff pie. I know you do. Just admit it.” “Shut up!” Meera screamed as she ran out of there faster than Usain Bolt. Meera didn't stop until she was a mile away in the woods, then she shifted into her wolf. Mason knew everyone back in their pack suspected his sister liked girls, but no one dared say it to her face. Mason stayed behind with an amused Mitsy and a confused Lexi. It was time for him to do damage control.
