I could do nothing but listen in anger. He then told me to get ready for dinner. I tried to protest, but he gave me no room for that. He went out and said he was giving me five minutes to get ready. I sighed, defeated, then went to the closet and picked a casual dress.
I went out and met him in front of my door. He held my hand and headed toward the dining hall. Upon arrival, he warned me not to leave his side. I could only nod in submission.
When we entered, I could feel my sisters’ shocked gazes, but I could do nothing. The prince took my hand in front of them, and I sat on his right side, which was usually designated for the Queen or the King’s wife. He gave the order for everyone to eat, and we all complied.
The tension in the room was so thick it could be cut with a knife. I didn’t want to stay there any longer than necessary, so I decided to finish my meal quickly and leave. When I finished, I got up, trying to take my leave, but Lucian shot me a fierce glare, forcing me back into my seat.
After dinner, my sisters left. Now it was only the prince and me in the hall. He finished his meal, then got up, and I followed suit. When we were almost at the entrance, he pulled me in and said in a low, dangerous voice, “You must wait for me to finish my meals before leaving the hall.”
I bit my lip, trying to hold back my words, and said, “I understand, Your Highness.”
“Good girl,” he said, then let go.
He escorted me to my quarters. As I said my goodbye, he pulled me in for a kiss, then left. I went back inside and wiped my mouth vigorously. I let out my tears.
How could he? He thinks he can do anything just because he’s a prince of a powerful kingdom. “I’ll soon take my revenge,” I said. The hate I had for the prince had grown so much.
I looked at the box on the table and approached it. I didn’t want to open it, but I had no choice. I didn’t want anything to do with the prince anymore. When I opened it, I found a letter containing more rules he had written for me.
The nerve of that guy, I thought.
The rules stated that I had to give him a good-morning kiss and a good-night kiss. This was preposterous.
“Damn that prince,” I muttered.
After finishing reading his rules, anger boiled intensely inside me. One of these days, I was going to have my revenge. At that moment, I suddenly missed my mom. If she were here, she would have helped me.
“I wish you were here… but I’m going to be brave. I’m not going to be a pushover. I’m going to bite back harder,” I declared.
Then I went to sleep.
