I neatly pack my duffle bag for the trip tomorrow.
Junior nationals here I come, I'm taking home nothing but gold. I ensure to pack my brand new leotard that my dad got me a year ago.
It's my good luck leo, and I need all the luck I can get to win tomorrow.
"Hey sweetie, have you finished packing?" My mom asks poking her head into my room.
"Yep, what's for dinner?"
"I ordered some wings for you, I'm running late for work so I'll just eat there. Remember to be ready by seven." She reminds me for the thousandth time.
"I remember mom, and I have to be in bed bu 8pm. No watching movies until 10 and no phone after 9 and remember to drink a glass of water before bed." I recite my bed time rituals to her and she giggles.
"Look at you being all grown up." She smiles proudly at me.
She kisses me on the forehead then grabs her bag and keys.
"Have a wing before you go, we don't want you passing out while driving. Or drooling for that matter. " I I joke holding out one of the wings for her.
She doesn't complain using her mouth to retrieve the wing I also hand her a paper towel.
"See you in the morning mom, love you." I say as she leaves the house.
I might be 14 but I'm the most responsible 14 year old to ever live on the face of the earth.
You might be wondering why a 14 year old girl is left home alone. Well my dad's an FBI agent and my mom's a nurse and they trust me to do the right thing.
And since I'm home schooled because of gymnastics I don't have any friends outside of gymnastics.
I consider that a plus for me since outsiders are normally a distraction, they don't understand the dedication it takes to become a elite gymnasts at my age.
After brushing my teeth I practice my salute and smile in the mirror for when I land my triple back dismount tomorrow. I'm definitely winning gold.
I hear my phone ringing and I scramble to answer it.
"Hey dad!" I say happily knowing its him.
"Hey cupcake, how's it going."
"Its going great, how's work?"
"Works work, sorry I can't make it to your meet tomorrow sweetheart but I promise I'll be back home for your birthday." I hear the sadness in his voice.
"Its okay dad, I know how important your work is because you help save lives and nothing is more important than helping those who can't help themselves." I tell him boldly.
"Look at you being all grown up, are you sure you don't turn 30 in two days?" He laughs at his own joke.
"I don't know dad you tell me." This time we both laugh.
"I love you cupcake."
"I love you too dad, see you in few days."
I hang up on him because I know he won't hang up on me then hop into bed. Tomorrow is going to be amazing I can feel it
