Chapter 11 Just Peachy

1088 Words
Chloe's POV Finally free. For the last month I've been going on back to back missions none stop and now I finally get a week off. I've been so busy I didn't even get a chance to check in with my informant for awhile. As I get to headquarters I go straight for the gym. This is the only place I can still do gymnastics. Even though I gave up the sport full time, I still made time on the side for it. And besides being flexible is a plus on the job. When I entered the room I wasn't expecting Hunter to be on the mens parallel bars. I had no idea he could do gymnastics. He's so focused on what he's doing that he doesn't notice me so I quietly do my warm ups. I stick my ear pods in and blast some music, blocking out everyone in the gym but no matter how hard I try to look my eyes keep wandering back to him. It's clear that he doesn't know much about male gymnastics because some of the moves he did weren't gymnastics moves. And he didn't do a dismount he just swung down from the bars like a monkey. To think about it the FBI is a strange place, why do they have a full gymnastics gym down here. I've never given it much thought before. And when I first came here I was just happy that I could do gymnastics without everyone breathing down my back to come back to the sport. I do a double illusion then a back flip. That felt good. Now a double layout some kicks and turns a side aerial and a double pike dismount. Nailed it! My ear pods are pulled out of my ears and the culprit is none other than Hunter. "Hey there sweet cheeks, long time no see." He smile innocently at me. "Stop calling me sweet cheeks, it weird." I say coloring my tone with irritation. "I didn't know you could do gymnastics." He says with is smile still in place. "Aren't all the spys flexible." I say in duh tone. "There's a difference between being flexible and being able to do gymnastics and no. Some spys have other talents." "Okay." I actually didn't know that I thought being flexible was a requirement. "So your still not gonna tell me your name." He asks handing me my ear pods. What is with him and knowing my name, we only did one mission together. "It Hunter x002" I tell him my code name. "Your female hunter?" He asks surprised. "Yeah why?" I don't wait for his reply as I do a handstand and start walking across the room. "I had no idea it was you. I thought it was someone else. By the way I wanted to know your real name." He says joining my action. "Why." Is this guy sick or something? "Let's just say I'm intrigued by you." Well that's one way to put it. "Because you haven't slept with me yet or because you think I'm playing heard to get?" I ask in a matter of fact voice. "I don't know. " He answers as we go back on our feet."Are you?" He surprises me by asking. I throw my head back in laughter and I feel tears prick my eyes. "Your so funny you know that?" I say patting his back with one hand while wiping my ears with the other. He looks at me confused as ever and I just laugh some more. "Hunter, what's the point of playing hard to get if I'm not even interested?" I ask him and the look anger and hurt that took over his face made me laugh even more. I guess he's never been rejected before, well there's a first time for everything. He soon school's his emotion and puts on a cocky grin. "I'll have you sooner or later, just you wait." He says and walk away. That sounded like a promise. Bring it on Hunter. ************** Since I have a whole week off I decided to get some archery practice in. Since I'm living a lie why not embrace it. I still can't believe that Hunter didn't know that I'm Hunter x002. I just assumed he knew since he's Hunter x001. And there's no way I'm telling him my actual name is Chloe, I know he's a master hacker he could find out everything about me in 0.001 second. And I can't have that happening. Only a few people left at the FBI knows the truth about my dad and that I'm a legacy agent. Only the older agents knew him the newer agents have not a clue who I am and I want it to stay that way. "Joe I'm home!" I yell knowing he's probably cooking dinner. "I'm cooking dinner, are you hungry?" "I'm starving. And it smells so good." I say sniffing the air, it smells so mouthwatering. "Wake your mom up then come set the table." He yells from the kitchen. He's such a sweet guy, he was my dad's best friend back at the FBI and he said I swore that he would take of us if anything happened to my dad. And now, three years later here he is still keeping is promise. "Mom" I call out knocking on her door but I get no response. I softly push the door open only to see her curled up with the sweater she got dad for Christmas a few years ago. Her cheeks wet from crying and she is still in her work clothes. I decide to leave her be and head back downstairs. "She okay?" He asks concerned. "No, just let her rest for now." I sigh setting the table for two. We have dinner in silence, but I know he wants to ask what I've been up these past few weeks. "So- "I don't wanna talk about it. You should get to bed I'll do the cleaning up." "You know you can talk to me about anything." Joe says giving me a soft gaze. "I know." I kiss his cheek for reassurance. I take his now empty plate and begin the cleaning. I keep an ear out when I hear the shower then I slip out side with my burner phone to call my informant. No answers. Great. I have an entire week free, the best time to go investigating and I can't get a hold of my informant. Just f**king peachy.
