"Today is the final day of competition, today is the day to go all out. No holding back, no second guessing, go full out and flawless for every routine and there's no double in my mind that the both of you will snag one of the top 3 spots."
"You really think so coach?" Ginelle asks with hope in her eyes.
"I know so, now let all your hard work pay off. Don't hold anything back."
"Thanks coach, your the best." I thank him and reach over to hug him.
"Coach Walker I need to have a serious talk with one if your girls." Ms Clinton storms over angrily looking at me with a furious gaze.
"I'm sure whatever it is can wait till after the competition, my girls are in the zone I can't have anything messing with their focus."
"Is that so? Did you hear what that child said to my baby?" She growls at me and I try my best not to roll my eyes at her.
"Yes I'm aware of what happen and chole us working on a written apology for both you and your daughter." Coach lies, for me and I instantly feel bad.
I look over to Raven and I see her cheeks wet with fake tears and a smug look on her face.
Coach finally calms her down and she goes back to her daughter.
"What did you say?" Coach asks looking me directly in the eye.
I know I shouldn't lie so I tell him everything.
"She started it, theres no way I'm making you apologize until her daughter apologizes first." He says in disbelief and storms over there.
He tells her like it is and walks away. She's gets so mad that she throws water bottle at him and the cameras zoom in on them.
"I guess theres still some bad blood between them since that divorce."
"I think so too Mark."
The crowd catches on and everyone starts laughing.
Coach walker turns the entire argument into a joke and we all end up laughing.
"Sorry about that girls, now let's get back to business. Chloe your on beam while Ginelle your on bars. I want you two to show them whose boss."
"Yes sir." We say in unison.
I know why their doing this they want coach to choose between me and Ginelle so they put us on at the same time.
But they don't know that we are fired up and ready to go.
We hear the confused sounds of both the crowd and competitors when coach sits back and let us do our thing.
Our coach would never choose. I look over to where Ginelle is and I see her looking back at me we give each other a nod then begin.
That's how it is for the rest of the day, they made sure Ginelle and I perform at the same time until the final rotation.
So far so good, I haven't made any major mistakes and from what Ginelle told me she only took a big step after landing in her floors routine. So as for as I know we might be in the top 10.
There's only one rotation left they are our specialty, I'm on bars and she's on beam. I know why they left us for last.
To put it simply, they've been bribed and they want on to mess up our big routine. A lot of persons where upset when they heard that coach was helping me do a triple back on bars exactly one year ago, they said it was too difficult and dangerous for someone my age.
They said that coach was pushing us too hard, but they didn't understand that he say something special in us that's why she helped us nail these difficult routines because he knew that we had what it takes.
I make eye contact with Ginelle and I can see her bright smile from all the way over here, I look back at coach and I see him looking back and forth between us and finally I look at mom and I see her crying.
Stop it mom I haven't even won yet.
I close my eyes remembering all the time I nearly broke my neck trying to land this stunt, all the times I landed on my face and ass. And the first time I landed I sprained my ankle.
I open my eyes and did a perfect routine.
And now for my tripple back I close my eyes and let go feeling my body rotate in the air before I'm pulled down gravity.
"Ladies and gentlemen you've witnessed history here today,Chloe Pinnock just landed a triple back dismount making her the youngest gymnast to ever land it."
The crowd is going wild and I run over to hug coach the entire gym stops to look at the replay in disbelief.
We then stop celebrating and pay attention to Ginelle and come and i point to her. She smiles at us ready to do a two and half twist dismount.
When she lands it perfectly the crowd erupts in cheers for her and coach and I run over to her.
"It is such a beautiful thing to witness the making of history." The commentators talk.
"And now the judges are releasing the scores. We all know who should be on top."
"You've seen it here first Chloe takes first place, and in second we have Raven, and third place goes too Ginelle, fourth to Tessa."
"Mark I honestly think these girls have what it takes to go to the Olympics."
I zone out when I don't see my mom.
As we line up to collect our flowers and team jackets and medals I can't see her anywhere.
She's normally here taking a bunch of pictures saying that she'll cherish them for ever.
Why do I have a bad feeling about this.
"Chloe, your went back to the hotel since she wants feeling well, I called a cab for you and Ginelle, it almost here so get your stuffs."
"Hi Chloe one last interview before you go. How does it feel being number 1."
"Its feel like a dream, like how that hard work has finally paid off."
"And what are you plans for the Olympics?"
"I plan to shoot for the stars the worst the could happen is that I could land on the moon."
"Sorry but I have to go because my taxi is here." I politely excuse myself and hurry to get my things and leave.
When we get to the hotel our rooms is dark and I heard my mom crying, my heart suddenly drops to the pit of my stomach.
"Mom."
"Honey, I'm so sorry I couldn't stay. I'm such a bad mother."
"Mom, it's okay."
"No sweetie, it's your dad."
"What about him? He didn't leave you did he?"
"He left us, hes-
"He's what mom" I feel the tears stream down my face looking at her in that sad broken helpless state.
"Oh God hes dead!"
What?
No way.
"This has to be some crazy birthday prank, he'll walk through that door saying suprise any minute now."
"Look at me Chole hes dead, he died on the job this morning he got shot."
I see the truth in her eyes and it shatters me into a million peices.
Never to be fixed again.
