Chapter 2: Time to go

628 Words
Chloe's POV I sit on the couch with two duffel bags and our passports in hand waiting on my mom. A few minutes pass when I hear her honking I grab my stuff the breakfast I made for my mom because I know she hasn't had anything. "Is that for me?" She asks with a bright smile. "Of course it is, are we picking up Genele at her house?" I question her while putting on my seatbelt. "No her mom wanted to see her off so she's driving her to the airport herself then we'll all check in together." Mom explains. I turn up the radio and we sing along to every song that played as we drove to the airport. When we pull up to the airport I see Genelle and her mom waiting for us at the entrance my mom quickly scarf down the breakfast before exiting the car. I laugh at the guy passing by expression when he sees her devouring the pancakes. "I'll go let them know we're here, and boarding isn't until half an hour so slow down mom." I giggle as I grab my duffel and skip over to Ginelle. "Hey Chole!" She shouts and she and her mom wave. "Hi miss Morgan, hey Ginelle." "Hi honey, where's your mom?"she asks looking concerned and confused but still wearing a smile. "She in the car, she'll be over soon." I explain. "Well tell her I have to go or I'll be late for my shift." She wishes us both good luck while hugging and kissing Ginelle. I get why she can't come but I feel kinda bad for Ginelle, she'll have no one cheering her on since her mom is a single parent and she can't miss work. I see miss Morgan stop at my mom's car they have a short conversation then my mom comes over to us. The flight was only 3 hours long, and the airport was only half hour away from the venue. "Hi are these two Ginelle and Chole?" A nice woman asking as we approach the check in station. "Yes they are." My mom answers her politely. "Great, the are the last ones here, he are their room keys and they practice in the last group." She explains while my mom signs us in. "Thank you so much." My mom thanks her. ************************************* As we line up to march out I see Ginelle fidgeting and talking deep breaths. I quickly grab her hand and squeeze it lightly. "Don't worry, I bet your mom will be at home cheering so hard while watching you on TV, we might even hear her through the cameras here." I joke and she cracks a smile. "Our neighbors might even file a noise complaint." She jokes back and we burst out laughing. The national coach glares at us and we stop our laughing. I have no idea why she hates us. Our coach finally rushes in creating a ruckus. "I'm sorry I'm late I missed my plain yesterday so I had to get the earliest flight out this morning and then there was so much traffic on my way here. I didn't even check in." "Mr. Walker keep it down, the girls are about to be introduced." Mrs. Clinton grits out and then announcer begins to speak. "And now ladies and gentlemen it is time for selections to begin my co-host and I will kick things off by introducing the talented young ladies who will be competing for one of the twelve spots on the junior national team." As they begin calling our names, the gym and state we are coming from we march out. Seeing the crowd gets my adrenaline pumping, I can't wait to show then what I've got.
