Chapter 12 I called my mom later that night. I told her what I was up to—minus the part about all the possible, probably not, fingers crossed, danger, or about the boy I was sleeping with in the room she was paying for, the room that I rarely used except for s*x and spooning. “I knew you’d go searching for your parents someday, Lucas,” she said. “And you’re not upset?” She sighed. “Would you love me any less if you had them in your life?” “Of course not!” “And I won’t love you any less, either, if you should find them. And I hope you do.” “You do?” “I do,” she replied. “You need to know what happened to you. I get that. And you need to know what happened to them. I get that as well. Plus, there’s plenty of room in your heart for all of us. I know that more than I know anything else
