SPECIAL CHAPTER: STAR FESTIVAL
Keisuke didn’t like what happened right now. The Star Festival was coming! One of the best festivals in their world! He wanted to celebrate it properly with Kazuyuki. However, he was voted to assist in organizing this year’s festival. How could this happen?
Still lamenting the bitter truth, he looked at Shier, “What should I do?”
“Well, you don’t have a choice. Why not celebrate it normally and just add some spice at night?”
“Spice at night?” Keisuke asked, his mind can not comprehend it.
Shier looked at him and sighed. He leaned over and whispered.
Less than seconds later, Nephrite stopped Shier, his face beet red, “H-how could I?”
________
Qixi Festival
Keisuke walked down from the wooden platform as his uncle and mother introduced the participants to the art and beauty competition. However, as he reached backstage, all of a sudden, he dashed out running away before people could react.
He did not know how or when it happened. But it turns out the reason why there were so many participants this year involves him. Someone spread that he would take the lucky winners for a meal and stargazing that night.
Shier made a way for his escape, while the poor Kuro, unaware that he might turn into a sacrificial lamb, was left behind guarding the stage’s safety.
I hope they won’t choose Kurokami as a replacement. Keisuke could only hope.
The sun had already set and the stars were starting to light up the sky one by one. The sweet smell of flowers lingering in the wind, along with the faint smell of delicious food from the distance. Keisuke planned to bring Kazuyuki to the center of the town to taste the local delicacies but because of the incident, he could not bring him anymore.
Keisuke’s stomach made a sudden embarrassing sound.
Shier laughed, “Go ahead to the meeting place. I’ll bring food later.”
After Shier left, Keisuke went to the lupine flower field where he agreed to meet Kazuyuki. However, he did not find anyone there. Was he late? Keisuke wondered as he strolled through the flower field. He checked if Kazuyuki fell asleep in one of the flowerless parts of the field.
Fifteen minutes later, Shier arrived, panting.
“Young master, we have a problem!”
“Did something happen?” His heart raced. It was only two years since their town recovered from the war. With everyone’s effort, they slowly brought back peace to the land. They rebuilt their homes and planted flowers back in the flower fields. However, the fear from what happened that time will forever linger in their hearts.
Shier shook his head, “Nothing major. But Young Master Kazuyuki was dragged to the stage into the competition to be the prize!”
“What did you say?!”
________
It turned out Kazuyuki came to pick him up from the festival but Kazuyuki got dragged in as his replacement instead.
“Keisuke wore a golden mask with intricate flower design. Each upper corner has a horn similar to a bull. His mask covered the upper half of his face but the lower part shows the lower half of his face. Only half revealing the beauty of the ill-fated princess.
Yes, he asked Hana, who was also the female lead of the play depicting their Star Festival Legend, to let him take her place.
“Good luck, Young Master. And don't worry, I’ll help you with the other preparations as well.”
“Thank you, Hana,” Keisuke said sincerely.
Soon enough, the event started.
There were three major parts of the competition. Talent, Beauty, and Awarding. The play would be performed after the Talent competition.
The participants performed different traditional arts. From painting to poetry, dancing to singing, ikebana to sculpting, and playing different musical instruments, each girl showed their exquisite talents.
A part of Keisuke felt guilty about it, but he could never let others be with his man. Just thinking about it made his heart itchy.
“Get ready, participants for the play, get ready!”
Luckily, Keisuke did not need to practice because he was the one who organized and wrote the play this year. He knew it by heart. It depicts the time of the last war where the ill-fated princess battled with the enemies of their kingdom.
The warriors went out and positioned themselves for battle on the designated space in front of the platform. Soon, Keisuke jumped from a high tree nearby and landed on the ground. The hem of his robes fluttered, his sword glimmered from the surrounding lantern lights. He landed beautifully. Without delay, he engaged in a fight with the enemy soldiers. The flick of his wrist and the swings of his swords were as beautiful as art that people realized something felt wrong but also seemed perfectly right. The brilliance was really similar in the princess of the legend.
Near the end, the assassin sneaked and attacked behind Keisuke. And like what happened in the legend, the former amnesic prince saved him.
However, instead of falling in his arms, the amnesiac prince continued to hug him.
The crowd became restless.
Keisuke wanted to ask the person hugging him but he can’t speak or he will blow his cover
“My princess, should you save me or shall I save you?” the person suddenly whispered in Keisuke's ear, the heat of his breath sent shivers down the latter’s back.
Sure enough, It was Kazuyuki!
“So that’s why your hug didn’t feel different,” Keisuke answered.
Kazuyuki pulled him up and swung his sword to the assassin. Though the actor was surprised with the Prince’s attack, he acted as a professional and indeed played dead.
Kazuyuki faced the audience, his arms wrapped around Keisuke’s waist. He swung his sword and said, “Now that I regained my memories, I won’t accept death as faith. I’m here to claim the person fated for me and fight to claim her back.”
He turned to Nephrite, “You were never an ill-fated princess, but my only fated prince.”
Just as he said that there was a commotion in the audience, cheering for them.
Keisuke’s heart thumped.
“My Prince, will you be with me through all eternity, in whatever lifetime?”
Keisuke felt his voice blocked, overflowing with emotions. He cleared his throat, “Even if fate won’t allow it, I’ll fight to be with you.”
“Very well,” Kazuyuki smiled and without removing Keisuke’s mask, he lowered his head.
The moment their lips touched, the loud noise from the crowd blurred in their head. Both of them were filled with each other’s sensations. Their kisses were careful yet full of affection. And though these actions were solely for each other, the crowd can’t help but feel their love.
