Rozagin Part 5: Paths Crossed Nephrite told Damian not to drive him to school the next day. “Will you be alright, Young Master?” Damian asked, a frown clearly visible on his face. “Yes, I heard doing exercise is also good for the mind’s health. A little walk won’t hurt. Don’t worry, I will be fine,” Nephrite reassured the butler. Damian could not convince him otherwise. In the end, the older man allowed him to leave on his own. Chraen’s school was a half-hour distance away from their home. It’s a good way to start his plan while observing the surroundings. On the way, Nephrite waved his hand to open the panel. One of the missions this time was to find that mysterious person who tried to warn Chraen online about the upcoming crime. Based on Chraen’s memory, this person’s ID was called Plere. Right now, this person wasn’t even on his friend list yet nor have an existing account. It screams suspicion. First, how did Plere learn about the crime? Second, how did Plere even acquire this information and why did this person want to help Chraen? What will Plere gain by helping Chraen? Was Plere really helping or was it a trap? The account seemed like it was specifically made at some point before the crime happened. At that time, Chraen was so busy preparing for the exams that he did not check his social media account at all. It was the reason why he saw the message late. Too bad. Chraen did not pay attention to the date the message was sent to him, then Nephrite would have a better clue. Well, Nephrite did not have a clue on this part. He closed the panel and checked out the surroundings. Chraen never walked in their district so Nephrite had no clear memory of it. Their house was part of an old but rich folks' district. However, hundreds of years ago, this was a property of The House of Visterdja. As time passed, things changed but their family was still well-respected in the district. Some people who knew Chraen greeted him on the way. Most were middle-aged to old couples. The younger generation prefers to travel in their cars. No one would expect a young master of an old rich family to walk on his way to school, anyway. Chraen passed the old-rich district and entered a normal community. Silver Birch trees were lined up on both sides of the street, making the breeze feel fresher. “Oh, there’s an eco-park,” Nephrite mumbled as he walked further and saw an establishment arc near the gate. He noted this place so he could exercise here when he had time. Unexpectedly, a familiar person came out of the gate. “Good morning, Chraen.” Ignis noticed him as well and called him from the other side of the street. Chraen smiled back. Their school was on his side of the road, so he waited for Ignis to cross first, “Good morning, Ignis.” “I did not expect to see you here. So you live in this community as well?” Chraen, who just came out from the rich folk’s district, “...kinda. You as well?” “A bit far from here. I had to cross the eco-park to reach the school faster, but it is still part of the community. By the way, you don’t mind walking with me, do you?” “Why would I? Let’s go.” No one spoke on the way to school. Even so, it was not an awkward silence but only seemed like they were both deep in thought. They did not even notice the eyes that were focused on the two of them. Nephrite knew Chraen did not know Ignis in his past life. They never had an interaction, not even once. So he was curious about this person. “...breakfast?” Nephrite was startled. “I’m sorry?” Ignis chuckled, “ I asked if you had breakfast already.” “Oh, yes. I did,” he paused, “Do you need to go to the cafeteria?” “Ah, yes. Sor—” “Let’s speed up then.” Nephrite walked ahead of them. Ignis smiled and followed his friend. ________ There’s still an hour and a half before classes start. Nephrite had coffee in the cafeteria to accompany Ignis for a while. “Why are you staring at me?” “Huh?” Nephrite blinked. Ignis chuckled, “You’re staring at me just now.” “Oh, sorry.” I’m just too comfortable with you, it makes me curious, Nephrite thought. However, he could not tell the other person that. Instead, he said, “No, just curious. You’re also a member of the basketball club yet you do well in the music class but you’re not a member of the classical music club?” Earlier, some students from the basketball club greeted Ignis, reminding the latter to attend the club meeting before class. There’s actually a basketball game in this world! “Yes. What of it?” “I’m curious why did you not join the club you’re good at.” “Playing the violin isn’t my hobby,” Ignis smiled. Nephrite thought the other person will elaborate but he did not say anymore after that. Nephrite nodded despite not understanding the full situation. “Do you like basketball?” “Yes, it improves both stamina and reflexes.” An idea came to Nephrite’s mind. “If you don’t mind, could you teach me how to play next time?” “You don’t know how to play basketball?” “I know but I had no chance to play with others before,” Nephrite explained. It was true. Back in his real world, he only knew the rules but because others avoided him, he had no way of playing it with others. And even if it’s possible to play alone, he still cant. He rather buys some food than use the money to buy his own ball. As for Agase, his friend was willing to teach him how to play. But after some people bothered Agase after they saw the two of them together, Nephrite decided not to do any outdoor activities with Agase again. Ignis’s eyes seemed to spark but it was only a very short moment, like an optical illusion. He agreed.
