Nephrite returned to his room. After he took a bath, he lay on his bed and checked the world’s information once again.
He raised an eyebrow in amusement as he scanned the contents. This world, named Rozagin, was already at the level of the computer age. Even so, because of culture, the medical field developed slowly.
For example, his real world has Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Pharmacology, and other branches of pharmaceutics that have played a big role in medicinal drug development, making the Pharmaceutical Industry in its advanced state today. It wasn’t as highly advanced as the Core’s but it had already achieved great heights.
However, in Rozagin, the development of pharmaceutical drugs does not exist yet. Instead, making healing concoctions and potions was the closest resemblance to it.
Since anesthetic agents were made from plants, situations that require medical surgery were not a problem, but the production of medicines for oral consumption was handmade by the “doctors” themselves.
Despite entering the advanced stage in technology, they have not yet developed good pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment, not to mention the development of pharmaceutical companies.
It was due to the heavy influence of witchcraft in society.
Though the concept was quite similar, witchcraft, which was more inclined to heal and cure in this world, did not suffer prejudice, unlike in Nephrite’s world. People who studied it here were greatly respected. To be fair, these witches here were best to be called herbalists, botanists, or phytologists instead. Without prejudice, these people were able to research and gather great knowledge in botanical medicine, much wider than Nephrite’s world. One could say this world’s knowledge regarding different types of flora was top-notch.
The downside was there were still traditional beliefs that exist and some important things don't have proper attention. For example, psychological healthcare. Some mental disorders are treated as possessions or caused by unexplainable entities. And though there were few people who studied and discussed mental health in this world, they were still a long way towards spreading awareness.
Similar to how Chraen’s sleepwalk symptoms were viewed in this world.
How can it be just a simple sleep-walk?
Normally, Nephrite could just casually ask about his situation. However, with Chraen’s situation, he had a vague idea that this problem was the key for the culprit to act on the plan they brewed. If he happened to disclose that he had some kind of doubts about his condition, who knew if the hidden enemy would do their crimes ahead of time than their original plan?
As he read the information, something suddenly occurred to him.
There's something wrong with the system. Why was the vessel's backstory too vague? Nephrite frowned.
The usual one was full of details. Back in Kumoshima, it even includes information about Keisuke’s uncle but now…
It did not even include Chraen’s favorite meal nor why did Boryz bullied him. Nephrite tapped the tabletop with his fingernail as he thought, restless. This deal with Boryz was a real problem. Luckily, the other person skipped class earlier or it would be too troublesome to be confronted without knowing the problem.
Some people would bully without reason, but Nephrite could not jump to a conclusion just like that, could he?
He pondered for a moment. But as a new hunter without much experience, how could he figure out the problem?
Maybe it's just an unusual setting, he concluded.
But then a question came into his mind.
What would happen if I made the wrong decision without a proper guide? How would I deal with risky problems and unexpected aftermath then? He frowned and sighed.
Nephrite decided to set the matter aside for now. He would try to be careful as much as possible in order to avoid situations that might push him on the dead-end.
“I should really make a backup plan once I return to the Core. Best to ask about this kind of problem before leaving for a mission next time,” he murmured to himself.
He closed the hologram once again. He felt like there was something wrong with Chraen’s condition. However, he was not an expert and he could not figure it out on his own.
With that in mind, he opened his computer and searched if there were nearby clinics or research centers. Unfortunately, he did not find one.
He was about to give up when he saw a research paper about trauma. Nephrite remembered Chraen had Astraphobia. Then he recalled that while he was talking with Chraen’s father, there was a sudden loud, banging sound. After that…
Without further thought, he clicked the link to the research paper.
The contents were relatively simple. Like how different traumatic experiences developed anxiety disorders, a list of traumas applicable in this world, and simple methods to manage or avoid trauma triggers.
“If he based on this article, it was obvious that whatever caused that loud sound this afternoon was the reason of the sudden blank in my memory,” Nephrite whispered. But what happened after that?
When he regained consciousness, he was browsing the internet. Does that mean he moved as if he was on autopilot after he blanked out? Nephrite frowned. His mother knows, but why does it seem like his father did not notice at all?
Was there no difference? Did I act just the same as how I was when awake? Or do I move as if I’m in a daze?
Nephrite had so many questions without answers at all!
Nephrite pressed the bridge of his nose. Another dead-end.
For now, he had to prevent himself from blanking out. Who knows what might happen when he is not in the right state of mind?
Nephrite was about to close the tab when he remembered to check the reference section. An idea flashed through his mind.
He should find more books about this. Though it might be hard to find since there was still limited knowledge regarding psychology in this world, a start is still a start. If there was one piece of information that was already published, then there should be a predecessor who managed to pique the interest of the new one.
If someone was already experiencing traumas, then the other type of mental health problems that could explain his situation should have been touched one way or another.
With that in mind, he took down notes of the name of the book and the authors behind it.
