Chunan entered the tent, his movement quick, decisive and silent. Like it had always been.
He placed his fist in front of his heart as a salute,“Your Highness.”
Second Prince Yoshimura gestured to him to have a seat.
A servant came in with three jars of wine. Chunan declined when the lady was about to pour him wine. Then he turned to Yoshimura, “Your Highness, I apologize if I had to offend you. But I really can’t drink wine.”
“Prince Zhuangjin, if I drank yet you did not, how will I make sure that I still have my head at the end of the night?”
Without a minute delay, Chunan drank the wine in his cup. However, before the Second Prince could ask for a second cup, Chunan grabbed all three jars of wine.
Yoshimura’s voice turned cold, “Do you dare offend me in my territory?”
Chunan bowed his head, “Yes, if I could keep the Prince alive, then I dare offend the Prince.”
Yoshimura chuckled, “Why are you amusing?” He gestured to the servant to take away the wine. Then he turned to Chunan seriously, “You’re brave and talented enough to be a Crown Prince, yet you let your brother make a deal with me. You really don’t desire the throne?”
“For me, I could protect the people better when I’m not tied to the wolf throne.”
Prince Yoshimura narrowed his eyes, “Do you look down on me? As the Second Prince, I’m struggling to get the throne.”
“No,” he stared at the newly served tea and tasted it before serving the Second Prince upon confirming that it was not poisonous. “We fight different battles and there are hundreds of ways to deal with one war. There’s nothing wrong with both our choices, we just picked which suited us more.”
Prince Yoshimura chuckled again and raised his cup to Chunan.
Chunan had long seen through the real Prince Yoshimura. Despite all his schemes, this person deserved to achieve the throne in the future.
Even if on the surface, they were just assisting the two Princes to reclaim their place in the neighboring country, this war was also important for Prince Yoshimura. It was a rare chance to remove all his enemies in the court in one go.
Yoshimura looked past him as another person entered the room. “Are all preparations ready?”
Chunan looked behind him and saw Ging on his knees as he greeted the Second Prince.
“Yes, Your Highness. The rest of the trash had been disposed of,” then he turned to Chunan, “Prince Zhuangjin, the General agreed.”
Both Yoshimura and Chunan nodded.
Prince Yoshimura rose from his seat, so did Chunan, “Your Highness, I need to talk to someone. I will go ahead first.”
Prince Yoshimura walked towards the exit of the tent, “You know what to do, Prince Zhuangjin.”
Even if Chunan said those words, he stayed on his spot. Everyone else followed the Second Prince out. As the last guard exited the tent, Chunan flashed and vanished like a shadow guard.
Prince Yoshimura, mounted on his horse, went to the beginning of their main force’s formation. “It’s about time we launch a counter attack. Let’s show them that the Kingdom of Kumoshima can’t be bullied by scoundrels who bit its owner.”
________
“Is this your plan?!” You intend to use half the main force as bait?”
“General, you are the best in this field. I’m sure you can handle every type of adversary,” Prime Minister Idjimo said. General Wei looked at Prime Minister Idjimo in disgust. One arm holding a beauty while the other holding a wine. Was this place not their battle camp?
Prime Minister Idjimo sneered at him, “Or the General is afraid of death? Have you forgotten the vows your ancestors made with the royal family?”
General Wei Xingyun, well-known for his strong loyalty, clenched his fist. He did not speak anymore, only saluted then left.
“General—” his subordinate tried to say something but he signaled for him to stop. “Let’s return to the main camp.”
Without further questions, all the soldiers with him followed.
General Wei’s ancestors had always been loyal to the Royal Family of Great Lang. For that scum person, Idjimo insulting him was like insulting his whole family. He could not take it more than a second longer.
Five thousand soldiers under him had vowed their loyalty to him. Whether it's life or death, they would follow him. If he had all ill intentions, he would have easily usurped the throne like buying candy a long time ago.
.
The Prime Minister, who was always focused on money and agriculture, was too short-sighted even when the king was still alive.
However, his cunning manipulative skill was top notch. He made the whole country like a fool, believing that he was a loyal subordinate, wanting to get the abd*cted princes back.
Even as a young general who had long learned to read people, had been made a fool. And when he realized it was a scoundrel who took over control, it was already too late. The public opinion of the minister was already in the latter's full control. He made use of the country's nationalism, used the innocent civilians as pawns to attack the country where the two princes hid from the disgusting claws of this man.
However, this extreme loyalty of the citizens of their country was a double-edge sword for Idjimo.
Some people might have not known, but the people of Great Lang were descendants of Ancient Wolves or secretly called in their country as werewolves. After hundreds of thousands of years of mix-breeding with normal humans, the people of Great Lang lost their werewolf abilities but not their characteristics. People outside see them as Nationalist, the reason for their strong unity and sincere following of their leaders. But the truth was they were extremely loyal to the family of their Alpha’s bloodline, which was of course the ancestor of the Royal Family. It was also a secret of their country. But of course, at a certain course of time, other bloods had been mixed in, causing some minority of blood apples to sprout.
Prime Minister Idjimo also had part of the Alpha’s bloodline in his body, the reason why the citizens followed him. But it was miniscule. As long as the Crown Prince Huaixian was still alive, they would only wait for him to return and become King.
The Prime Minister originally did not think highly of the First Prince Zhuangjin. As first born, he should be the crown prince. He was strong, charismatic and intelligent. Even if he did not have the unique strong commanding presence of an Alpha, he had the authoritative presence of a leader like the former King. However, Zhuangjin did not want to deal with learning how to manage a country even if he listened to it.
Instead, the First Prince showed interest in other stuff. Aside from blacksmithing, he also secretly learned from the shadow guards. Other than the General and all the shadow guards, no one was aware of this truth.
It was only after his younger brother, Second Prince Huaixian was given birth to, did they realize something was amiss. When this younger brother was born, it was felt by everyone in the whole country. Only then did the King realize his eldest son was born as a lone wolf - a sigma.
The young Zhuangjin also felt his Alpha brother’s presence that day and was actually relieved. That same day, he asked permission from his father to learn everything he wanted. Now that his brother was an Alpha, he could improve himself and be useful in the future. The father and the whole country understood this clearly. SInce there’s an Alpha, they won’t be able to follow another King.
But even without the crown, the charismatic First Prince was able to improve himself and yet, no one doubted his loyalty to the younger brother. He posed a threat to those who wanted to harm the young Crown Prince.
Because of this, the minister was hellbent to find and kill them. The people would only accept him if the children were officially dead. Idjimo, despite having a drop of the main royal bloodline, could never take the throne at whim.
When it comes to scheming, the Prime Minister Idjimo was probably the best in their country. He fooled the whole country, asking for support to find the missing Crown Prince, even stating the First Prince died of the attack. Everyone foolishly believed.
To protect the common people, the General could only continue and pretend to follow the Minister. Even then, the Prime Minister was sent to guard the movements of other Kingdoms on the West Sea, preventing him from sending people to investigate and find the Princes.
But the General heard something from a blacksmith weeks ago.
If this was the truth...His fist curled tighter. He would torture Idjimo himself until that shameless person showed everything out of his dirtbag.
The main camp was settled near the borders of the two countries already. He was dragging time. It was only that fool Idjimo believed his people were still scouting that he could drag the war for weeks. However, he could not trick that scum any longer.
He needed to find the truth about the Princes.
