Chapter One: Once Upon A Time

481 Words
There once lived a sweet young girl, her hair blonde like honey, her eyes as blue as the sky. I lived with my father, mother, and sisters in a castle. My father ruled as king until I was thirteen, but then tragedy struck. He became ill and died. I was left only with my mother and sisters.   My name is Brena Ella Lade, but you probably remember me as Cinderella Gertrude. I was the oldest Princess of the Southern Realm. Not long after my father died my mother became so heartbroken she took her own life.   It was a difficult time for my sisters and I. At that time they came to resent me. My sisters had been overly spoiled by my mother and father. When I began ruling, they no longer were able to do the things they used to.         I made them focus on their duties as Princesses, and they hated me for it. My sisters were very deceitful.   They began causing problems in my kingdom, which made my rule harder. My sisters were careful to not let me know it was their fault. They kept their “involvement” to a minimum.   It finally got to the point that they were caught in the act. It is hard having to accuse your sisters of treason. It's even harder to punish them. I threw them into the dungeon, but it wasn't enough.     Eventually, they convinced the guards to help them. They escaped and ran away. I knew one day they would return. In my heart, I knew if they did, I would have to put them to death.   I had never given that order before, and I didn't want to have to give it to them. No matter how they feel, they are my sisters, and I love them.   Time passed by slowly, and my rule was becoming more accepted by everyone in the kingdom. I was happy until I learned the truth...
