PART 1: THE BLACK WOLF SHADOW       I once asked Sammul what his favorite animal was. He gave me a look before moving his eyes to Kiki who was licking my hand. He reached out to pet him on the head. I was truly surprised by his act. I could never imagine that someone like Sammul could ever do that. In my mind, Sammul was the kind of a taciturn person. He was quite cold, a bit cruel even. Nothing from my memories could tell that he had ever allowed Kiki to be anywhere near him. “You like dogs?” Sammul looked at me. His eyes and well as expressions were covered by the sunglasses. From the very first time that I had met him, and even now, if his lips were not moving, I could not tell anything about him. “Yeah. They’re really loyal” “And really easy to be taught as well as naive”, Sammul smiled. “And you?” "...." “Wolf!” I gave him an uneasy set of abstruse eyes. Wolf? Well, it was quite alike with Sammul’s personalities, except the fact that he could not be as fast as they were. “Have you heard that wolves have never been caught to be an entertainer in the circus or be a pet? They’re not the King of lands or jungles, or anything like that. The only King they will be is their own kind’s. Some of them might grow up to be the King of his pack. The wisdom and intelligence of the alpha leads his pack to either Heaven or Hell”. I did not take my eyes off him while he was talking. It was pretty sure that the following was the real reason for why he worshiped the wolves so much. “With wolves, you find them howling on the top of the mountain. In the moonlight, their shadows were joining together to create the color of black which was blending all over the trees and rocks and gravels. It was not like I could actually understand his metaphor, by the way. “Inside all of us, there is a wolf. Our original nature is a wolf with that shadow. If I was the alpha, do you have any idea what I’d do to you?” My eyes were still glued to him. No words dared to come out of my mouth. Each sound came from those lips were just as cold as a sharp knife. “I’d whiten the wolf’s black shadow in you. I’d turn the black that you have always been believing in as your true color to the whitest white that is ever white. It’s white enough for you not to remember who you truly are. And even if you kill someone, you will believe that it’s the right thing to do, something that you’re supposed to do”.
