Bonnie was exhausted as she put out the dishes to dry. She was planning on doing homework when she heard some weird incantations coming from the back of their house. Weird, it sounded just like her mum.
A bit curious and wondering what the old lady was up to, she tiptoed silently so that she wouldn’t be able to get caught. Her mother was busy sitting on the dusty floor with herbs around her in a full circle as she chanted some incomprehensible words and she took the knife and tore through the neck of the small rabbit in front of her before smearing her forehead with the blood.
Bonnie gasped when she saw this and stumbled backwards as she hit something which gained her mum’s attention and she turned around, and her eyes, that which were completely black, turned normal again.
“Bonnie, what are you doing here? You are supposed to be reading your books in your room.”
Her mum said, standing up from the ground and dusting her behind said as Bonnie tried to regain her composure and said,
“I was putting away the dishes and I was going to read when I heard something and I came to find out what it was. What were you doing? Why did you kill that rabbit? Why is blood on your forehead? Why is there a circle of herbs and why were your eyes black?” Bonnie asked all this quickly as her mum chuckled and said,
“You sure ask a lot of questions, don’t you? I will tell you the reason why. But first we need to talk inside. It is not safe, especially on a night like this where creepers lurk around.” Her mum said, glancing side to side from making sure that nobody was spying on them.
“I am not stepping inside till you tell me what you are doing and why you were doing it, or else I will sleep with grandmother tonight. She is going to hear how crazy you are.” Bonnie stated, as a matter of fact, as her mum laughed and said,
“You never cease to amaze me. Well, if you want to sleep with your grandmother, you can do so. After all, she is everything I am, and that is a witch and what I was doing was casting a spell to lure other dark creatures away from our house.” She said everything at a go as Bonnie’s mouth dropped open and she gasped.
“You are a what?” She asked as her mum looked at her and said,
“Actually we are witches. Welcome to the haven, I guess it is time I filled you in.” She said as Bonnie burst out laughing and said,
“Good one mum, you got me really good. Witches? There is no such thing as witches.” She said as her mum rolled her eyes and said,
“We LITERALLY live in a town that is ruled by vampires who drink blood for fun and you are in disbelief over witches. How ironic?”
“Because vampires are real, I have seen them. Hell I even have a prince vampire as my classmate, but I have never heard of witches and I haven’t seen anyone yet.”, VBonnie said stubbornly crossing her arms across her chest as her mum shook her head and said,
“As stubborn as your father. I am a witch, Bonnie, and you are one too. Isn’t that proof enough?”
“No, because I don’t see you wearing a long black hat and I certainly don’t see your magic broom hanging around.” She said as her mum frowned and said,
“Now that is a stereotype. And it is not fun. Witches are so much worse than children-made up fantasy books. We control magic, real magic and we have so much power we could use to do good and yet you don’t even want to accept it.”
“Well then, if you are a witch, prove it to me. Show me real magic and not that card tricks or penny pulling out from my ears you did when I was a kid. I am so over that.” Bonnie said as her mum nodded her head and said,
“Okay, you want real magic, I am going to show you real magic. Saying that, she spread her hands out and muttered some dead language as her eyes turned black and her hair began to scatter wildly in the air and soon enough her feet were lifted off the ground as she was levitating and thunderclaps enraged the once stilled sky, as Bonnie believed her without a doubt. Her mum was a witch, she wasn’t lying.
“Okay mum, I believe you, stop it.” Bonnie yelled loudly so that her mum could hear her amidst the great wind. And just like that, everything stopped and went back to normal as her mum’s feet touched the ground once more.
“Now do you believe me?” She said with a proud smirk all over her face as Bonnie replied,
“Do I believe you are a witch, yes. Do I want to be any part of this? Absolutely not. I am 18, mum. I have a life already, I have Tessa, I have school. I don’t want to be a witch, bye.” Bonnie said as she turned and walked back inside, heading to her room as she locked the door and fell flat on her bed. Just then, the door opened and her mum walked in saying,
“The lock was never going to stop me from entering and I know deep down, you know it too.” She said as Bonnie sat up frustrated and said,
“Go away mum, I don’t want to hear anything you have to say and stop using those powers of yours. My life is ruined, I am not normal because of you. Can you give me space?” She said as her mum sighed and said,
“Okay I will give you all the space you need, just for tonight but you should know that your powers are manifesting and you will need me to help you through it. Good night angel, sleep tight.” She said as she walked out of the room, her door closing and locking itself almost instantly as Bonnie fell back on her bed as few tears rolled down her face.
She couldn’t believe she found out about this. She couldn’t wait for tomorrow to tell Tessa all about it, after all Tessa was busy having a blast at the party she was invited to. Not to say it out as a bad friend but she was jealous of Tessa. She had always felt plain around her and either Tessa didn’t notice it or she didn’t care about it but she always managed to pull boys towards her as a magnet. And she even managed to get Prince Derek to fall for her charms. She wished she had her looks, her life would be so better.
No! She admonished herself, she couldn't be having this kind of thoughts towards her best friend.
She screamed loudly into her pillow which thankfully muffled her screams and she soon fell asleep afterwards.

After an hour Faye was finally done with her makeup, she looked spectacular as shre twriled in the standing mirror with Lola at her back clapping her hands excirtedly.
“Oh my God, you look so beautiful. You are going to be the talk of the party at the ball. Prince Derek, wouldn’t be able to take his eyes off you at all.” Lola complimented her as Faye turned around and said,
“You think so? Thank you.” She said happily as Lola nodded her head and said,
“I think the drug ought to have work by now, I will go and get the necklace, why don’t you wear your heels and wait for me.” Lola suggested as Faye sat down on the bed and nodded her head while Lola left the room and made way to the attic where Tessa stayed.
She opened the door and to her expectations, Tessa was sprawled out on the floor fast asleep, the necklace visible from her neck. She smiled at this, Faye was going to be so happy when she gets the necklace. She quickly tiptoed towards her not to alert her or wake her up and squatted beside her as she removed the necklace gently and took it. Then she stood up happy and turned to leave when she paused. She glanced back at sleeping Tessa and saw that she was shaking a bit due to the cold and quickly got her a wrapper that she wasn’t using anymore and draped her with it. Not that she cared but she didn’t want Tessa to fall sick so that she would be able to carry out her duty the next morning.
When she was done, she turned and left the room and closed the door silently. She was thinking of trying it out to see if anything would happen to her so she stopped before their door and quickly tried it on, looking at the mirror but it seemed plain. Nothing happened at all, maybe the magic was invisible. She shrugged as she took it off and made her way to their room.
“Told you my plan would work.” She announced as she walked into the room holding the necklace as Faye saw it and smiled happily.
“I never doubted you for one moment, dear sister.” She said as she stretched her hand and took it from Lola before wearing it and looking into the mirror.
“How do I look, Lola? Does it fit me?” she asked as Lola nodded her head and said,
“A pretty necklace fit for a pretty girl.” Lola said as they both heard a knock on the door and they both paused their activities.
