Shifted Ideals

Watching how the humans dealt with each other made Linus's blood boil. Just in the past few years he had managed to pull Kenneth out of the elite circle. No one else knew what they were or what their abilities were except one. The child they raised between him and Kenneth was an Alpha wolf. Auden was the name he had chosen for him with no surname as he was sure his parents would want to claim that. It didn't seem to happen anytime soon as the boy was approaching his 40s. Him, Auden, and Kenneth were traveling towards Spain when the wolf mentioned something. "Come on," Auden said like an excited child. "I want to see one of my own kind." Before Linus could stop him he had shifted and started running on all fours. The wolf was nothing but trouble but Linus cared way too much. Besides, shifters were not immortal like them by a long shot. They might live longer, but not forever. That was Linus's curse as a vampire he wished he was never born with. Life was just too precious. Before they could catch up with them two black blurs of fur tackled both him and Kenneth to the ground. Foaming at the mouth they began to growl. Knowing better than to provoke them Linus put his hands up as Kenneth did the same. They had to have a plan before they did anything. "Auden!" Linus yelled, hoping to get his attention. It seemed to get his attention as his wolf looked back at them and slowly approached. The other wolves seemed to sniff the area. Things had become rather quiet as it seemed the wolves were having a conversation amongst themselves. It must have ended well because they all shifted back to human form, nude. "I guess the vampires come," one said with a shrug. "Alpha Sinclair is at the pack house waiting for you all. Come." Scrambling to their feet, Linus fell in line behind them as he handed Auden the clothes he kept packed. Kenneth kept giving him worried glances as he looked ahead. Now was not the time as he knew nothing. "Welcome," someone said as they reached a massive mansion built into the countryside. The vampires began to feel uneasy as wolves flanked behind them as if they were to bolt. Uneasiness settled in Linus's gut as they got closer to the office. Whoever the Alpha was smelled nearly like Auden. The Alpha dead stared at Auden as soon as they entered the room. Linus couldn't help how similar they seemed and suspected they were related. "Brother?" the Alpha questioned, his hands clenched. "It's clear now that my father never informed me of an older brother. My name is Lucas Sinclair. May I know what they named you?" "Auden," he answered, reaching for his hands over his shoulders. "I prefer that you call them Linus and Kenneth. They have practically raised me while searching for you guys." Sensing the tension Linus let out a cough. "The family reunion is nice here but last I recall wolves are not on good terms with vampires," Linus answered and Lucas smiled. "I like that answer, and yeah it's true. But I also have a deal with a witch to fulfill. Currently I have to find a pure blood vampire which is nearly impossible these days. Whatever she needs from said vampire I don't know," Lucas says with a shrug. Linus couldn't help but feel his immortal heart beat heavily as soon as his two hands were bound behind him. The wolves escorted them out of the room going further into the pack house. An older woman sat in the middle of the room with an incense burning away. Human blood etched around on the ground with runes spread around it. "The first one," the woman said and Linus felt himself shoved to the ground touching the blood. He gagged slightly which made the woman slightly raise a brow before taking a stand. More blood was smeared on him that was much fresher causing his fangs to make an appearance. Soon she spoke something in a weird language and everything became a haze. The last thing he heard before collapsing was Kenneth screaming. "Your oath is fulfilled," the woman said as Linus twitched on the ground. "The first one was the pure blood, and it's quite impressive how little blood was in his body. He will need to be fed when he wakes." It felt like someone was sitting atop his chest when he opened his eyes. The burning sensation reminded him of his needs even though he could barely stand. A growl escaped his own throat startling himself as he grimaced. "I wouldn't move too much," a wolf said from across the room. "That witch took some of the magic right out of your veins." "M-m-magic?" Linus stammered as his hands shook. He has never heard of pure bloods having magic and if they did Dimitri sure did a poor job of teaching him. Shadows began to pool at Linus's feet as he began to panic. As soon as he raised his hands they also rose to protect his face. Now he was horribly shaking as he had never experienced this as a tingling sensation shot through his body. "What is happening?" he asked himself. He didn't seem to notice Kenneth and the witch watching him in the darkness. His mind kept wandering back to old memories. "Curse you father! he screamed, banging his fists on the ground and sobbed. Soon the witch touched him jolting him out of his memories. "That is enough," she said. "Do you want to learn how to use this shadow power or not?"
