"It hurts! It hurts!" The patient screamed, trying to fight back the nurses holding her. "Stop that!" I yelled, and they turned to me. "But doc, we need to finish this operation!" One of the nurses said. "Can't you see that the anesthetic didn't work? We'll have to postpone the operation. We can't open her up like this," I informed them. The nurses all prepped her and wheeled the still screaming patient out. She's one of the rare cases. Sometimes, the anesthetic really doesn't work on some patients. But most of the time, it works like a charm. You're probably wondering who I was, or what I'm doing here. I'm Doctor Lucas Till, One of the Resident Surgeons here at the Alabama State Hospital.
