Strange things happening

I was on my way to school when I noticed something different... I wasn't 100% sure what it was but it felt like a feeling... I'm hoping it's a good feeling because I just arrived at the gates to the front of the school. I started getting nervous and pulled my hood over my head so that nobody would notice that I'm the new girl. I slowly made my way to the reception where a young woman was sitting behind a counter. she looked like she was in her late 20s. I walked in and took a seat while she was answering the phone, flipping through papers and typing on a computer. About 5 minutes of waiting she hung up the phone and closed the file that had all the papers in and turned to me and said "Hello my name is Sarah, sorry for the wait now how can I help you?" "Hi I'm Layla Parker, I'm new here and I came to get my schedule please" she gave me a big smile and said "sure let me pull it up on the computer and print it out for you" It started printing and I noticed a group of kids around my age started walking towards the reception. I slightly turned my body so they wouldn't see my face until I heard Sarah speak... "I've just been through all your details and noticed it's your birthday today. Happy birthday hun!" by the time she finished her sentence those group of students were now standing next to me and said "hey happy birthday! You must be new here? would you like us to show you to your classes?" Sarah gave me my schedule and said "That would be a great idea!" so I nodded to them and one of them asked to see my schedule, I was slowly handing it over to him till my eyes met with his when something happened. It felt like a shock wave just ran through my entire body and by the look on his face the same thing happened to him. I gave him my schedule and turned away like nothing happened. It's my first day here and I didn't want to make a scene already. The boy stepped closer to me so our eyes could meet again and he said "Hi, I'm Jack what's your name?"
