When I got back to my apartment, I was surprised to see Luther at the doorstep. He looked weary but his grey eyes lighted up when he saw me. “Where you’ve been?” he asked casually like we hadn’t fought and spoken since then. “Had dinner outside,” I answered, not moving an inch from where I stood. “When did you arrive?” “Just now,” he said, moving away and gesturing for me to open the door. I fished out the key from my bag and was relieved he wasn’t crowding me from behind while I unlocked the door. The moment we got in, I went straight to the kitchen and grabbed a can of beer. I needed something cold and bitter that would provide some sort of energy since we’d be having this conversation that could either lead to another big fight or reconciliation. “Having a tough day?” Luther asked
