When Monique and I went back to the party’s venue, Mrs. Sin went our way while holding a glass of wine in her hand.
“Your husband has been looking for you,” she said in a monotonous tone.
Monique stiffly nodded and turned to me. “I think I saw Mr. Kim there. Come one, Faith,” she said, trying to provoke Mrs. Sin.
“He went out as he had an emergency call,” Mrs. Sin said with her chin up, making her slender neck appear longer. “You don’t mind my company, don’t you, Ms. Smith?” It wasn’t anywhere a friendly request but a challenge.
“I’ll be fine here, Monique,” I said with a reassuring smile, prompting her to go to her husband. She did leave us but not without giving a dagger stare at Mrs. Sin who scoffed in reply.
